Such a great thread. A few thoughts:
Jalen's development: This is what makes this story so good! Becasue Blake Barnett wasn't ready OR because CNS didn't like his daddy's agenda, Jalen was put into a bad spot in that first game of his Bama career. Jalen, as a passer, wasn't ready for that, but Jalen as a person and competitor was! But, when teams figured out he had trouble pulling the trigger (probably because CNS insisted his QB's not throw INTs), Jalen/the Bama offense was easily defended and eventually became stagnant. I don't think it's possible to over-emphasize how poor of a QB Jalen became during the 2017 season. Everybody remembers the NC game when he got pulled, but it was really, really bad before that. On most teams not Coached by the GOAT, that team might be 8-4 but despite the weakness at QB we got to the NC game and everybody remembers when CNS was forced to make the change (the rumor is there was a half time revolt of the WRs and Daball demanded Tua play) and the rest is history. I've never felt so sorry for a player as I felt for Jalen that night. While the team was celebrating Bama's greatest game of all time (I believe that!), Jalen suffered his greatest defeat and knew the writing was on the wall, but he still supported Tua and was gracious in his postgame comments. That told us what kind of a person he was!!!
Bama/OU debate: Jalen has settled this by introducing himself as the QB of the Eagles who played at: "Roll Sooners." He knows people care about that and he's claiming both schools. Why should one try to own him when he played at both if that's how he feels? He's got a degree from both.
Bama/UGA players on the Eagles team: This might be the smartest move the Eagles ever made. Even smarter than acquiring Barcley! Find the best players from the best college teams in recent years and draft as many as possible. Can't believe other teams haven't figured that out. No wonder I've shifted my fandom away from Dallas and now I'll proudly say, "Go Birds!"
