Kiffin Smiling with Smart after the game.
Kiffin Smiling with Smart after the game.
And still had a full complement of timeouts that deep into the game (yes, say that again - all the Tide's timeouts still in hand - given the "communications" misfires everywhere 'Bama's played)...and rallied around Yeldon defensively unlike what came after Drake' injury...and were rallied by Blake Sims running and passing with lapidary precision on what the 'Whos were giving him. And found their way and (their identity) in overtime and the play immediately preceding it (the Reuben sandwich with "everything" on it) to make Death Valley the place where Saban's teams put them corndog dreams to sleep - as in euthanizing or maybe better 'Who-thanizing them...Watching the ending. Can't believe we fumbled it by their goal line with 1:13 left in the game...and we came back to win.
Not sure what "giving up" even means here. I watched to the end. I had hope that we were going to pull it off even before we got the pass down to Jones and White to set up the FG try. Still a few drives before that when LSU was pounding our line and on offense we were constantly going three and out, there was no evidence we were going to get down there and score. The only thing I think we did wrong all game was not calling nearly enough running plays. The fumble was pretty frustrating. Calling those things out is not negativity but just one fan's view of the facts. Nothing wrong with that as long as you're not insulting. I don't think any fans should be called out for that. That's just silly. True fans are going to voice their opinions reasonably. Yes, even during a game thread! Heck, even CNS said we did not play our best game. But, calling for Sims and/or Griffith to be replaced, I thought was too much. These guys give us our best chance to win whether you like to believe it or not.I will confess that for the first time in history, I basically gave up. I did not at any time criticize the team or anything. But the way LSU was playing - blowing us off the line like I haven't seen in who knows when - and how listless our offense was - I figured they'd plow right into the end zone and put a seven spot on us.
When the penalty moved them back 15, I did say it "could" get interesting at that point.
But if we win it all this year, I guess we need to invite LSU's kicker and the dude who got the penalty called on him to the parade. Without them we wouldn't have won.
So yes - for the first time in my life, I did give up on the Tide. But look how little time was left and how much better they had looked before judging me too harshly.
Yep, me too, a lesson I learned several years ago. That's why I didn't visit during the game...
Saban's attention to detail. Betcha This exact situation was planned for in practice and coaches meetings . Players knew what to do and executed when it counted.Watching the ending. Can't believe we fumbled it by their goal line with 1:13 left in the game...and we came back to win.
Just amazing.
I love Cooper's reaction. You can see him fist pumping, and then he kinda hesitates and says "You know what, I'm just gonna run over there anyway, time to celebrate"
Im beginning to buy a little of Leon Brown's I couldn't hear the whistle excuse. It was still late and he should know better but daggum that was loud!
"Like" is not strong enough to describe how I feel about that hit.[emoji3]Just for fun, let's watch this again:
