Confrmed: Per sources close to Baylor admin today, Art Briles will be hired as Texas Techs's next football coach SPORTSbyBROOKS Sources: Art Briles To Be Next Texas Tech Coach
LOL! Only the aub's think he is a good coach.I thought they were backing off this story...curious. I wonder if Tubbs next stop is Waco.
My thoughts too. Of course I wouldn't bet on where he would end up. He seems to have a new favorite quite often.I imagine this would help us with Baylor commitment Ahmad Dixon, who's a safety.
Not sure he's worth paying his $4M buyout to get him though...but of course, he does have an outstanding HS coaching record.Seems like a good fit. Fire one loopy offense HC for another loopy offense HC.
In all seriousness, not a bad hire by TT.![]()
I was thinking it would be either be Briles or June Jones.Briles did a good job at U of H. If he can get some players they'll be competitive.

The interim HC is black. Seemed to do a good job in a tough situation. Made all the right moves in the 4th quarter. I'm sure that he was given a chance to interview. But did they interview a black coach?
But Tubs didn't "give up" in his last job. His coaching/recruiting method doesn't work unless his primary competition isn't buried in sanctions, changing coaches every other year, and led by an inexperienced head coach for the most part. See his record outside of our worst seasons.I don't think anyone is going to seriously consider Coach "8 & 4 Tubby" worth hiring after watching him practically "give up" in his last job.
Well if that's what ESPN said, I doubt it happens. I'll bet Texas Tech is sick of ESPN making their decisions for them. Plus, McNeill was with Leach for a long time, so I don't see him getting the job. Ruffin would make a good coach at Texas Tech the only person that knows that program better is Mike Leach. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see it come down to a couple of barners TT and Gus Malzahn. Why is this conversation taking place? ESPN annointed and crowned McNeill during the bowl game, without racial overtones. So it is said (ESPN), so it is done.![]()
