Seems like a good fit. Fire one loopy offense HC for another loopy offense HC.

In all seriousness, not a bad hire by TT. :)

I thought they were backing off this story...curious. I wonder if Tubbs next stop is Waco.
LOL! Only the aub's think he is a good coach.

I don't think anyone is going to seriously consider Coach "8 & 4 Tubby" worth hiring after watching him practically "give up" in his last job. Plus who would want to be his OC knowing his history of throwing them (coordinators) under the bus??

Why would anyone take the chance on him at this point in his career other than some CUSA team perhaps??

Why am I asking so many questions? Why?

Not sure he's worth paying his $4M buyout to get him though...but of course, he does have an outstanding HS coaching record.

Good hire. I remember reading the e-mails released last week from the TT administration during their negotiations with Leach/contract last year. They consistently mention Art Briles. I knew he'd be their guy. Dang good coach though.

But did they interview a black coach?
The interim HC is black. Seemed to do a good job in a tough situation. Made all the right moves in the 4th quarter. I'm sure that he was given a chance to interview.

Whether they seriously considered him is something that we will not know.

But Tubs didn't "give up" in his last job. His coaching/recruiting method doesn't work unless his primary competition isn't buried in sanctions, changing coaches every other year, and led by an inexperienced head coach for the most part. See his record outside of our worst seasons.

Yup..They've backed off of it now apparently. Mixed signals from everybody. Maybe it fell through. But now Hance is saying that Briles is out and that Tubberville and Ruffin McNeill are the two top candidates with 3 or 4 more
in the mix. I imagine they'll take a shot at Houston's Kevin Sumlin.

And for whoever it was that asked if they interviewed a black coach, there's no Rooney rule in college, although the state of Oregon did pass legislation that would mandate something similar for not only college football but for all public intercollegiate athletic programs.

Why is this conversation taking place? ESPN annointed and crowned McNeill during the bowl game, without racial overtones. So it is said (ESPN), so it is done.;)

Well if that's what ESPN said, I doubt it happens. I'll bet Texas Tech is sick of ESPN making their decisions for them. Plus, McNeill was with Leach for a long time, so I don't see him getting the job. Ruffin would make a good coach at Texas Tech the only person that knows that program better is Mike Leach. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see it come down to a couple of barners TT and Gus Malzahn.
