Does anyone know if they're doing the ticket reservation thing for the nat. championship game this year like what they did at the Rose Bowl last year, where you could "reserve" tickets for your team in advance, and if your team ended up going to the game, you basically got the right to buy tickets at face value? Is that an every year BCS thing, or just a Rose Bowl thing, anyone know?

It is my understanding that the process used for last years BCS Championship administered by the Tournament of Roses group will NOT be the process of the Fiesta Bowl.
If you visit the Fiesta Bowl website, you have to first get on the Fiesta Bowl "wait list" before having an opportunity to be on the BCS Championship "wait list".
First priority will be to those who have previously purchased tickets and to all the sponsors who are allocated tickets. If you are not high up on Tide Pride, your chances are likely nil. To get a chance at tickets through the "wait list" method is really questionable. If you know anyone in the Arizona area that has any experience, please post here.
It is a shame at the "gross ups" that sponsors are allowing people to spin off on Stub Hub but that appears to be the only sure way this year.

If you haven't already signed up for the wait list it is probably too late. I signed up a while ago and received an offer to buy tickets. The only catch is you have to buy the BCS Championship, Fiesta Bowl, Insight Bowl, parking passes for all and the pre-game tailgate party for the BCS game and Fiesta Bowl. It was fairly pricey but after selling the Fiesta Bowl tickets it should be cheaper than StubHub. I don't imagine the Insight Bowl tickets will go for much if anything. I received the offer a little over 2 weeks ago, I imagine they are probably sold out by now.
Another thing to consider is there will be nearly 20,000 fewer seats at the BCSNCG this year compared to last year just due to stadium size.
Yea the TT will basically determine TP foks fait on this one unless you are to get tickets through that Fiesta Bowl package. God knows how much $$$$ they will be on Stubhub. Also, the seating capacity is a whole lot smaller than The Rose Bowl. I have 167 TT points, I highly doubt I will be even close to the cut off.

Man, 5-0 and already looking at BCS tix. Alot of ball to be played. 
That being said we had to get ours off StubHub last year. I loved the trip to Pasadena, but if the Tide makes it this year I'll be watching from the couch.
A trip to Arizona just doesnt sound as interesting as the trip to Southern Cali to see the Tide play at the Rose Bowl. A dream come true.
Now Miami or New Orleans that would be a different story.

I'm disappointed that the 'Team Reserve' system wasn't implemented this year for the Fiesta Bowl... it seemed like a really great way for fans to lock in tickets at a relatively fair price, if they were willing to take the risk with the reserve money. That's how I got my tickets, and I'd be doing it again this year if it were an option.
Me too! I didn't get mine that way last year but heard it worked great. I had hoped I could go this route.
Oh, I beg to differ about Phoenix. I love it out there! I would love a BCS trip to Glendale. I understand the magic and history of the Rose Bowl. I won't argue that for a minute. That's what made the 'Team Reserve' scheme so great - you buy early and save yourself the opportunity in the event that your team does win. If they don't, you're out the cost of the reservation, nothing more. It didn't seem quite so arrogant or presumptious then. The earlier you buy, the better off you are, because the reservations were cheaper.
I went on the Fiesta Bowl website three days after the BCS Championship game at the Rose Bowl and filled out a form for the waiting list. I fianlly recived an email last week allowing me to purchase a package for this years BCS National Championship. Unfortunatley, I had to buy a ticket to the Insight Bowl and the Tostito's Fiesta Bowl to get the BCS National Championship Ticket. However, I recieved all three tickets at face value. Did anyone else get to order this package?
I'm still mad at myself for not reserving the tickets last year, i almost did several times Had to buy them off of ebay.

I thought the way the Rose Bowl did it was GREAT way to do it. And I loved how they had EVERY school on there. Even Ball State fans could pay to bid to reserve their seats

Yeah, but the cost was based on your team's odds of making it to the game. You could effectively do the same thing by betting on Bama to win it all and using any winnings to buy a ticket.
Except that you have to buy the ticket to the BCS game without knowing that they will actually win the game. There's a timing issue plus the chance that you spend all you anticipated winnings but don't actually win you bet.
Yep, it was totally a Rose Bowl thing last year. That's how I got my ticket.

Also I was ticked last year not being able to get a direct flight from ATL to LAX for a reasonable price (booked right after SEC championship). I hate connecting flights and there is little reason to have to take one out of Atlanta. Flying direct to Phoenix this year baby, yeah!
I hear ya'! I ended up going on Delta to PHX then spending the night and flying Southwest on to San Diego. I didn't get my BCS tickets until Christmas, so by then everything was gone. Plus, I was flying for free.Psh, already got my flights to PHX :cool2:

I have my hotel, but I haven't booked flights yet. My luck as soon as I do well you know..... I just can't seem to do it just yet. Then again, if we go to SECCG I'll be at the game and won't be able to book flights until after everyone else does in 3rd or 4th quarter.
Oh, I won't worry about any of that now. Just trying to take it one game at a time.
That stadium - University of Phoenix Stadium - only holds something like 65,000 fans. It will be near impossible for the average fan of any team to get reasonably priced tickets this year - what with all of the Fiesta Bowl season ticket holders, VIPs, corporate sponsors, etc... getting first dibs. At least the Rose Bowl holds over 90K, so there were more to go around.
