I think it's just going to be a process getting your body reacquainted with the movements and actions associated with cycling. When I started riding again a couple of weeks ago my sit bones were really hurting. Taking too much time off is tough. Anyone have suggestions to help with this? I have good riding shorts and a good seat but man.
That’s cool. It looks like one of those portals from a Dr. Strange movie.
Bring along extra brake pads for Pisgah, especially if you're in the Brevard area of the forest. It was ages and ages ago but a buddy and I both burned through new pads in a long weekend up there. Tsali, over near Bryson City about 90 minutes from Brevard is also awesome. Have fun!i've been able to get over 130 miles in the last two weeks with about 9.5k ft of climbing, all riding around the city.
heading to the pisgah national forest (near asheville) friday for a mtb weekend. it's going to kick my ass, but it should be enjoyable and hopefully the ramp up in miles this last few weeks will help.
i just put on new brake pads and tires last week. saturday, we’re riding avery creek/bennett gap which is a 16 mile loop with 3k up and 3 k down. supposed to be a great trail. we may be at bent creek sunday, my buddy lives near there in west asheville.Bring along extra brake pads for Pisgah, especially if you're in the Brevard area of the forest. I have been able to start back riding again and what I have discovered is interesting. My son went through some health issues so I did a lot of walking with him while he was recovering. Well, it was causing my back to hurt so I just started stretching a lot more every day. My back stopped hurting and then when I started riding my bike again, BOOM, no more sit bone pain. I rode 28 miles yesterday and I have no pain at all. Every little thing you can do to stay healthy is really important. I always did a little warming up, but not as much.I think it's just going to be a process getting your body reacquainted with the movements and actions associated with cycling.
Start off with short rides and then little by little extend them.
Pain medications also help. Advil, Aleve, Tylenol, etc.
Motrin now make a dual action product that has both Advil and Tylenol together:

It works wonders!
