If things turn out to be a beauty contest for human pollsters, a one-loss AU is probably not going to have a chance to get to the BSCCG. They really needed us to stay at one loss and USC to stay at two... especially USC's situation.

As long as the barn wins out they will be fine. They control their own destiny. We may have not looked good today, but the SEC still garners a lot of respect from the human voters.

Yeah, our losing today is a non-issue for their hopes. Our beating them on the other hand...

If the NCAA concludes that the barn knew about Cecil Newton's contact with Kenny Rogers, and they played him, anyway, today, then they're going to lose more than a shot at an nc.

My question is this. Will ya'll actually root for Auburn to win the SECCG or the BCSCG (if they go)? I'm not so sure I would or could :eek2:.

If it is a beauty contest did Auburn's Homecoming come at the worse possible time. They dropped in the BCS poll last week - (the computer refused to believe). Since they played such a soft team today and that team scored 24 points on them will they drop a few more points from 1st place?

Here's the thing... if Auburn were to go and win, the SEC stays the prominent conference in America. That translates into a situation where a one-loss SEC team can still have hope for a national title when there are unbeatens in the lesser conferences. Look at it this way, the reason Michigan State has little shot right now at the BSCCG is because Ohio State has laid an egg the past two times it got to the title game. If they won those two, MSU probably has a decent chance right now.

Personally, I think I'd rather have the safety net of a loss in future years than having to endure AU fans for a year. However, I do live in Tuscaloosa. :)

You don't think that this would boost their recruiting? If history is any guide, it will, and that means that Bama is hurt. Bama losing recruits to Auburn hurts us worse than have the SEC's reputation damaged for a year.

Understand the rationale but no way I can pull for AU. Even the thought of them winning the NC and the Heisman the very next year after us makes my stomach turn. I don't know if it was 3-5 years later, maybe, but no way I can take it this year.

What looked like an unbelievable weekend yesterday (barn on the ropes, our title hunt still intact, etc) has gone to pot in <24 hrs. AU situation less ominous for them and we lose....:frown:

I can't agree with you here, but your reality and mine are quite different, Chief!;)

I honestly can say I don't deal with a lot of the grief from Barners that many of you endure... and that's colors my picture to some degree. I really only have one guy that's a Barner that tries to give it to me from time to time... and he is really only semi-interested. :)

Regarding the recruiting thing, I don't think we'll ever have a problem getting enough guys to win with CNS. We may not get all the Bama guys, but we'll get enough.

I don't want enough talent to win - I want enough talent to win CHAMPIONSHIPS. And having another SEC team with a BCSNC on its resume will, without a doubt, make that more difficult. Having that team in our state will make it much more difficult.

There is a lot of talent in the South, but not enough to keep this many teams on top.
