Re: Blake Barnett Transferring
There are many parents that simply cannot see the world beyond their children. Everyone else is wrong, their children are always right. In the end, they do a huge disservice to their kids, as you've hit on with your anecdote.
Let me explore this for a minute. Let's just say this is true - the Dad made threats, helicopter parented, yada yada.
How dense do you have to be to try and work over Nick Saban? Honestly.
What sort of delusional ego must one have to try and walk into the most venerated and revered program in college football and think you are going to strong arm their 4-time national championship winning coach, who's public persona is built on tenacity, discipline and zero compromise?
The level of ego-centricity to somehow think that you are the sun and the Alabama football program revolves around you and your offspring is almost clinically ludicrous.
I worked for a time at a university in a unique department that allowed me to work with students in very informal and out of the classroom settings. Without question the students who learned the least and developed the least over the years I spent watching them get their eduction were the ones who's parents were constantly accompanying them and asking questions and helping them accomplish things. I don't think I know a single one of those kids who is working as a successful professional in their field of study. Take what you will from that anecdotal example.
