Assuming (which might be a lot) that the family is pressing the issue. Earle has alluded to that, and it should surprise no one that it is a distinct possibility.
Yeah, yeah, I get it..............he has CA surfer gal girlfriend. Same thing: kid thinking about something else, and the result is muddled thinking.

Frankly, if his mind is elsewhere, and it is clouding his judgement, maybe it is best he moves on. The problem is the timing (I think most of us are in agreement), but also the lost time. Time that could have been invested on the "next guy up", in case it suddenly becomes "hey, someone just tore their ACL........you're up."

- JessN's preview comes and depth chart comes out only hours after and his depth chart already reflects Blake being gone.

And Del Rio might have been successful, the jury is still out.... (but he's moved a couple of times now)....
My point is -- he would have been in a much better position here.
Driskoll left Florida and blew the doors off at La Tech.....but, it didn't get him any further in getting him recognition by the NFL....which apparently is Barnett's end game

If you're part of any high level program, like BAMA, Ohio State etc, there's competition all over the place. If you didn't win the job here, are you sure you can win the job someplace else. Or would you be better off figuring what you need to do better, work on that, and maybe win the job next year. As Les Miles once said, you've got to have the chest to compete. If you think you need to leave, do it after the season. Don't abandon your team halfway thru the season.

Four points on Barnett:
1. Don't want him to leave.
2. Want evidence of why he got beat out by Hurts? Watch the mop up duty versus WKU. At the slightest hint of pressure, he squats, panicks, and his eyes leave the recievers. It's poise, or lack thereof.
3. I really do not think this has any bearing on the team.....i really believe they couldnt care less if he transferred. JMO.
4. Cornwell may be healthy, finally, which would give us a true 3rd QB if he does leave.

Again the timing of this is what gives the whole thing away. Why not just stick it out for 3 more months and then leave? We are talking 90 DAYS. Barring an emergency family or health situation, this is a very immature decision on his part, all the way around OR he is doing it intentionally because of hard feelings toward the coaches--and that's still makes it immature. I cannot see how it could be anything else.

This event is the fulfillment of a threat made before the season. Nothing more; nothing less. I would guess the pressure on Saban has grown with each game and BB's minutes dwindling, if anything. I guess I still didn't really think they would pull the trigger in mid season...

Wow. Just wow.
In that case it is really difficult not to just say good riddance. I'll stop short of that, and just hope he lands on the left coast and I'll forget about him. Won't wish him well, but won't wish for him to fail either.
