Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
I fully expect to have to fight through a crapstorm down there as per usual. Ashford will probably start and play like first half Joe Milton.
Doubt that. The way things are going we’ll continue interrupting drives with this musical QB number we’ve got going.

I think our defense keeps us in it late but the fact of the matter is our offense is simply horrendous right now. Coaches don’t have faith in either QB to do something so basic as throw a forward pass.

I don’t think Freeze has quite lost the locker room yet like Chizik did in 2012 but that could happen too.

Freeze is a good coach, but as I've said before in other conversations when it comes to sports (any sport), PLAYERS MATTER. The game of football has turned into a QB driven sport on top of the game has always started and ended at the line of scrimmage. Granted, I do not keep up with Auburn outside of catching a game on a Saturday or seeing highlights. But my guess is, Freeze doesn't have the talent he needs to do what he does best on offense.

Look at us, we took a major stepback at quarterback, and have looked like the keystone cops on the offensive line for most of the year. However, somehow, some way, we've been able to "flip a switch" at points in games to get ahead and our defense has become downright suffocating. But if it weren't for the defense being so good, and allowing the offense time to "get it together", we'd probably be sitting at 5-3, possibly 4-4. Again, players matter.

The talent deficit definitely hurts but there’s something to be said about working with what you have rather than what you would prefer to have, and we’re not doing that.

It's not fair to judge Freeze based on what happens this year. He took over a complete dumpster fire. We're just now starting to fully understand the damage Harsin did on the Plains.

I think most AU fans are willing to give Freeze a few years to rebuild the talent to a competitive level. But I also know several AU fans who won't even watch the games this year because they have so much disdain for Freeze and think that hire was morally wrong.

I know a few AU fans who absolutely will NOT watch games or support the team in any way because of the hire. And the real kicker is.....those same ones who view the hiring of Freeze with such shock and disdain also think Pearl is absolutely AMAZING.

Let the preacherman find a way to win the last one in JH and those " few AU fans who absolutely will NOT watch games or support the team in any way...." will instantly become far, far fewer!

AU could easily win their next four games and suddenly have Bama coming to town with a chance to get to eight wins. Most people suspected AU would lose at least three of the last four games they have had. I had them sitting right where they are when I picked my preseason helmet picks. I picked them to beat MSU, Vandy, and NM State to finish at 6-6. However, I picked Arky and Bama to beat them. Arky has lost a lot of close games, but AU could certainly knock them off, and just imagine the scene at JH if they have won four in a row with a Jekyl and Hyde Bama team coming to town. I think Freeze will have a decent finish and move right into recruiting season with some big wins. The fambly will all be back on board by season's end, and expectations will blow through the roof for AU in 2024. Of course, I could be wrong.

Auburn's entire hiring process never makes any sense to me at all anyway. They hit the jackpot with Pat Dye, I'll admit that. he created some strong defenses and tough teams, and in another time perhaps they win a national championship. Quite bluntly, they got robbed in 1983. But Dye at the time was the same kind of up and coming coach had some head coaching experience just not in the SEC.

Their hires since then with the conspicuous exception perhaps of Tommy Tubberville border on the ludicrous to absurd scale in my view. Terry Bowden was nothing but a name, I have always assumed that the Gene Chizik hire was because they assumed they could get him cheap and Saban was not going to be at Alabama very long since that had been his pattern up to that point in time. Gus got hired because he had given us a scare as the OC in 09 and they had to come back in 2010 which he got more credit than Gene did. Then, they let themselves get frightened into rehiring Gus and then fired him in favor of Mr. potato head, and then, OK, I can see hiring Hugh Freeze based on past on the field success, but given the circumstances that gave rise to that success, I just don't see how this is anything other than to make sure Saban doesn't get him as the OC, which it was no secret he wanted him.

I understand as I noted earlier that hiring a college football coach can be a crapshoot, and a guy who failed somewhere can do very well elsewhere and vice versa. But it seems to me that somebody with Auburn ties like Cadillac Williams might have been the better choice, not that I really want Auburn to hire a decent football coach anyway.
I really liked the Harsin hire. I think they should have given him a couple of decades to get things sorted out.

Regardless of your opinion of Freeze, he inherited a huge dumpster fire on the Plains. The auburn fans know this and are delusional if they think they are back. Of course, IF they were to pull a huge upset the last game of the season, Freeze will be hailed as the next great auburn coach.
