Re: Carlos Dunlap arrested for DUI (out for SECCG?)

It's been funny watching the posts on TI. 50% are vociferous that he won't play and 50% or equally persistent that he will. I kinda think he will. He's too important to them. As has been said above, he played Tebow when he shouldn't have...
I just wonder how much of this crap the media will let slide. Playing Tebow after a concussion, playing Spikes after the eye-gouging (prior to Spikes' "self-suspension"), and most likely playing Dunlap after a severe DUI...

If Vegas posted odds on this type of thing, Dunlap would be a 3-2 favorite to start, unless we find out that he maimed someone.

Man, Carlos must not be very bright. He should have told the police that "it was a private matter and he did not want to discuss it." They would have then let him go on his way with no questions, or does that only work if you're Tiger Woods?
Only difference, Tiger wasn't drunk and passed out at a green light. That was funny though.

Come on Tiger's was much worse, he ran over a fire hydrant and hit a tree. What if one of those McMansions had caught fire? At least Carlos passed out before he hit anything or anyone. If only Carlos had a wife to drag him out of the car (and beat him up) and/or lived in a gated community where reckless/drunk driving is okay.

Tiger also refused a breathalyzer or one wasn't administered, so we don't know one way or another. In actuality, Carlos refused a breathalyzer, so we don't know he was drunk. If FL law is like AL and GA refusing a breathalyzer makes you statutorily guilty of DUI, but it doesn't mean he was drunk. Gee I'm lining up all of Meyer's reasons right now. No proof, we need to let the judicial system handle this one, etc.

In which case, he'd be suspended for the first half of the Vanderbilt game. Wait, what? ... ;)

even with a personal recognizance bond, he may be barred from leaving the state of florida pending his trial. that's a standard pre-trial condition here in virginia, regardless of whether or not you have to put up surety for the release. that would be interesting to know, although such a condition can be removed by agreement of the prosecutor and defense counsel, provided the judge signs on to it.

Does the Catholic church still sell indulgences? Maybe UM can go ahead and buy his forgiveness before the game. :)
Probably since the latest Pope brought back exorcisms. But it won't do any good unless Carlos is Catholic. I don't know if the conversion process can work fast enough. Of course with Pope Urban and Saint Timothy on the case, Carlos won't need a Papal Indulgence.

The police said alcohol was not involved in his crash. Anyway that doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure Dunlap was drunk. Bad situation any way you look at it, but why was he at a "gathering" on a Monday night?

If Carlos is Catholic, then that explains why he was out at 3:00 AM . . . he was a devout altar boy returning from Midnight Mass and had spilled wine and water on himself during the Consecration. He really wasn't passed out at the traffic light; he was just despondent over his clumsiness on the altar. Poor Guy.

Re: Carlos Dunlap arrested for DUI (out for SECCG?)

Considering that there is potential jail time involved (unlikely, I can't see Urban Meyer risking his reputation on something so serious. This isn't a "boys being boys" type of crime, he jeopardize not only himself but other people lives by getting in a vehicle while intoxicated. If CUM doesn't do the right thing, then I hope Florida's AD does, and if he doesn't it, I hope Mike Slive does. What the SEC doesn't need is another round of "conspiracy" talks. Allowing a player of Dunlap to play when he committed a thoughtless crime would be insane.

I get why people think he will play and to a certain degree I do agree with that, but I am a believe that Dunlap will be suspended. This shouldn't be about a football game, it should about making sure the young man facing the consequences of his actions. Allowing him to play after DUI, is enabling him and that is something he doesn't need. I believe Dunlap will not play.

Update on al.com says he appeared in front of judge this morning. Interested in hearing the details of that.

In their case, they just need a proverbial Mr. Smith to do some serious hat-talking...

Re: Carlos Dunlap arrested for DUI (out for SECCG?)

On refusing the breathilizer when can a DUI suspect blood alcohol level be taken? Just wondering how much evidence can be "gathered."
I live in Tennessee now, which is an "implied consent state." You have the right to refuse a breathalyzer test, but you'll automatically lose your DL for a year. I don't know about Florida...

It's similar, I think it's 6 months, maybe a year. Refusing a breathalyzer is considered, in most states and by most judges, an admission of guilt.

Does UF not have a curfew for its players? If so, he should be suspended for violating curfew, if for no other reason.
