Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

After watching CNS transformed Marquise Johnson from a bench warmer into a solid SEC calibur CB taken in the 7th round in the NFL draft , you would think by now that any CBs with some talent and common sense can see that Bama with CNS as your position coach is the place to be!!

Not to mentioned, Kareem Jackson in the 2nd round and now Dre possibly in the 1st round this April.

Oh well, Artie would be nice addition to our talented secondary, but if he chose another path I wish him the best.

NEVER losing sleep again over recruiting as long as Coach Saban is at the helm. :BigA:

This is why I said CBs are a dime a dozen. We always end up with solid CBs. Now S on the other hand I worry because very few top tier in each class but when a CB starts saying I might look elsewhere I am not concerned because it seems there is always another to fill his spot.

Re: 2013 CB Artie Burns Roll with the Tide

article says he may flip, cue the "we dont want'em anyway"s
Not me. I am not going to degrade myself to pull off a Cow College impersonation. If Burns wants to go to FSU, then I wish him the best. If he wants to stay committed to Bama, I will welcome, but no "I didn't want him anyways" will be coming from me. Saban will do what he do with or without Artie Burns.

Kareem was a 1st round pick. ;)
As for Burns, "you shop, we shop." I'm pretty sure his spot won't be held until the end if he wants to "play the game." It is what it is.

I hate to see him go to FSU. He has a great opportunity here at the University of Alabama to be coached by one of the best CB coaches in the nation but if he wants to go elsewhere then it's his decision but I think it would be a mistake.

Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

In a tight year he's obviously been evaluated as a "take his commitment early" prospect. Stay the course Artie, keep your word. If all they can do is talk bad about Alabama that means they have nothing good to say about themselves.

Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

I think the staff each year has a specific group that if they commit we take it, but it does not mean they are the only choice for that spot. Even with tight numbers, yes we like to lock it down but the staff always have an alternative just as good. Last year reports were that Q Lambert really liked UA and was planning a Jan visit, but when Devall commited we told Lambert we were full. Now sometimes we take one another may go elsewhere but we are in a position right now we will find someone just as good to replace any recruit that may decommit, especially this early into the recruiting cycle.

Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

This guy can go where he wants to BUT as far as loser jimbo fisher and his bs recruiting tactics goes us Bama nation are about sick of his pouting, lies and garbage hes spewing towards Tuscaloosa.

I must say this: the criminole state penitenitary is a world class joke andthey and their bottom of the barrel jimmy bow fishtank coaching staff that nobody else wants needs to keep their pathetic mouths shut.
This aint the 1980s and their time is done, especially what little chance they had back like 30 years ago without Bobby Bowden they are a hasbeen and if they think they have what it takes to play big boy football then they should put their money where their
mouth is and schedule a home and home with Bama instead of a neutral site game in Jacksonville,Fla.
They dont want that though with their tiny crackerbox stadium and 20,000 Bama rvs olling in and taking over. UA will play them anyplace anytime any day of the year but it WONT be a snff in the direction of the bcs in the future because they simply arent good enough and in our league. They keep poking the bear and they will get the beatdown of a lifetime jamies winston along with the rest of the clowns. If it werent for Coach Saban no one would even know who fisher is.

Without checking. I'm betting Coach Saban hasn't changed a thing including his opinion.

Hate to lose him, but we will have no problem getting another blue chip to take his place. I'm not the least bit worried.

Man how personal recruiting has gotten since the first time I started following recruiting! ;) Wish I had of kept all my old Forrest Davis and Jeff Whitaker recruiting magazines I used to have just to compare! I went to school with Jeff at DAR in Grant, AL. He was a grade ahead of me but back then DAR didn't even have a football team lol!! And so I played basketball lol! Long story! ;)

Found this old gem from Googling his name. http://news.google.com/newspapers?n...L8fAAAAIBAJ&sjid=SdgEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5938,2143226

Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

We'll have to wait and see how this one plays out, but this is always a legitimate possibility, especially with the very early commitments from a great distance.

For the time being I wouldn't worry about it. He might go elsewhere, but we'll recover. Burns is a fine prospect, but if we lose him we'll replace him with someone similar. FSU will do the same if he sticks with 'Bama.

As an aside, I like seeing movement like this early. Something happens like this now and you have plenty of time to respond and line up other prospects. The problem is when deals like this suddenly play out in mid-January...

Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

He has de-committed. We're not even in his new top five.
Burns says he officially decommitted from Alabama today, but instead of naming a new frontrunner he's naming a top five.

Those lucky
schools
? Miami, Florida State, USC, LSU and Louisville.

"They're in no order, it's all even," Burns said.

Best of luck to him. He's missing out on the chance to be coached by the best defensive back mind in the country (maybe ever on the college level), but other than that, I'm sure he'll be fine.
