Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

Why do you suppose that Burns got so upset with Bama that he would decommit and not even include them in his top five?

Re: *** 2013 CB Artie Burns Commits to Bama ***

He has de-committed. We're not even in his new top five.
Burns says he officially decommitted from Alabama today, but instead of naming a new frontrunner he's naming a top five.

Those lucky
schools
? Miami, Florida State, USC, LSU and Louisville. "They're in no order, it's all even," Burns said.
Officially five teams going a whole lotta no-where.

Sad for them not us but they will have to watch Bama win another bcs national title;
i.e. BCS: Bama Championship Season

It's my guess that he has been told "that if he starts shopping then we do the same"!!! Don't you imagine that this is what happened???

Re: 2013 CB Artie Burns Roll with the Tide

The decision is Mr Burns. However, if he has any dreams of making it to the NFL, I would suggest he check out the number of secondary players who have been drafted from Alabama the last few years. This year alone there should be two first round secondary players going (Barron and Kirkpatrick) with Dequan Menzie climbing up the boards (2nd or 3rd rounder). Very impressive, Mr. Saban.

Oh well. Not a heartbreaker. Wishing the kid luck and all that jazz but there is another kid that is more then happy to take Burn's spot in this class. So...

he's got very good potential. CNS has got the brand and the coaching ability to develop him. The decision does not make much sense from an out-sider's point of view, but it certainly beats de-committing 3 days before NSD. We'll be fine.

Better for him (and us) to go ahead and do this now than wait till later if he wasn't truly committed. I wish him well and have zero doubt that we'll find a replacement for him in no time.

He did the right thing if he isn't sure Alabama is the place for him. Now everyone can move forward.

I am glad he did this early but I am a little confused by Louisville. Louisville, the football dynasty of the Big East? Good gracious.

I'm no recruiting expert, but I've followed TideFans long enough to know that one or two things will happen:

1. There is someone who is right now very high on CNS's list and he'll get an offer any day now...
2. OR, this coming high school football season some kid who plays corner back will have a break out season and CNS will offer him a spot and he'll jump on it like white on rice.

Btw, both of these will probably happen!

I would actually say it may have more to do with a few names that are definitely higher than him on the boards have started talking very positive about UA that already have offers will hopefully be his replacement. But again CB are a dime a dozen for the reasons you mentioned and many more. There always seem to be enough.

Re: 2013 CB Artie Burns Roll with the Tide

This is from Sat but it sheds some light on the situation, because one of his main concerns is to also run track in college. He also in this has UA listed but I guess we will find out this fall.

While he’s an elite hurdler, Burns is also a standout as a safety on the Northwestern football team. He made a verbal commitment last fall to Alabama, but Saturday indicated he’s still considering three schools where he would play football and run track.

“I committed to Alabama, but I’m still looking at them, Miami, of course, and Florida State,” Burns said. “I won’t make a final decision until this fall, sometime during the football season. I want to play football, and I want to run track in college. I’ll go where I think I have the best chance to do both and be successful.”

Ah, fair enough, I'm happy for the kid. His heart clearly wasn't in Tuscaloosa, so he did the right thing and he's going about it the right way. Hate we missed on him, but I'm sure we'll be fine. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

If he is really wanting a top flight track program, along with a football school he should be looking at Florida, Arkansas, or Texas A&M too...but Louisville and Miami make no sense. Neither are top 25 programs Indoor or Outdoor.

Re: 2013 CB Artie Burns Roll with the Tide

Regarding the track deal, I figure he mainly just wants to stay closer to home. I'd imagine he'll end up at either FSU or Miami. Louisville is only in it because of Strong's ties to the state of Florida.
