how are we doing with Joyner's teammate, Brian Robinson? he seems a more likely possibility. and BET, what about McKnight?
Johnathon McKnight seems to be pretty big on the Tide, and I don't think overcoming LSU's appeal would be a big issue with him. That said, though, I'm not really sure if we will ultimately want him. He's not going to be as highly-touted as his brother, and I don't think a firm offer is a given. He would probably have to be a corner, and at the absolute best I would say he's fourth on our overall board behind Milliner, Fulton, and Peters. I think we have a great shot if we want him, but that might be a very big if.
Brian Robinson is one people should keep their eye on, I think. He plays in a big-time program in Florida, and he seems to be a good prospect. Now, early on the process he was saying Miami was out front, but lately he has been talking about wanting to leave the state, so I'd keep my eyes open with this one.
As far as where Robinson falls on our board, well that's a bit of a tougher question. Sims is on board already, and you know he's at least behind Jarrick Williams. After Williams, though, it's really fuzzy right now at safety. I would imagine the odds are perhaps somewhat long that he would get a committable offer at some point even if he doesn't have one right now, but admittedly I think it's hard to get a good feel for how things are shaking out at safety right now. Only Saban and company really know where they want Sims to end up, and if Sims goes to safety, I'm not sure how many safety prospects they are looking to add beyond Jarrick Williams.
Coming into the 2010 recruiting season, we knew we needed to address the safety position, but it might not be so bad. Robby Green looked good this Spring, and it looks like Rod Woodson will make it onto campus. Furthermore, we signed two more safety prospects in 2008 (Lester and Barron), and with Sims (assuming he's a safety) and Jarrick Williams in the 2010 class, plus Nick Perry, I'm just really not sure we need to add any more safeties beyond that. We might add one more, I imagine, but that would probably be it. If Sims sticks at safety, it's probably not the big need position that we were afraid it would be a few months back.
