Good. At least Cecil agrees with me, or should I say I agree with Cecil. Shula cannot stay after the fiery "time for a new coach" beast was unleashed.

Sounds like he read RTO22's comments from the other day and made an article out of them. What a poser...;)
Really! There was nothing there that hasn't been posted 15 other times on here.

As numerous sources have confirmed, that is precisely what he did propose -- no staff changes, no real change in direction. And it was, and is, exactly what no one wanted (or wants) to hear.

What sources? Did I miss this? Did Mal Moore or anyone from the U of A say in this behind a mic or in front of a camera?

I usually like reading Cecil Hurt but this whole deal has even gotten Cecil writing things that everybody has heard on sports radio or off the net. Not 1 bit of news in that article.

Information from "sources" usually means someone credible has made a comment off the record (thought was simple common sense?). And i think the article is more of an editorial than a factual outline of anything (again, common sense?).

Bottom line is this, does anyone honestly believe that C Hurt is going to be backpedaling on this article down the road? I don't.

One thing newspaper writers usually do well is sum up things... that is, they'll take a bunch of tidbits here and there and put some continuity to them. You are correct that CH has not said anything ground-breaking or new... but note the fact that he has connected these various ideas with interesting threads. :wink:

Re: Cecil Hurt article for tommorrow (Link)

Stay the course? If the course has flaws and needs immediate attention that would lead some coaches to make changes and do it quickly. Not at Alabama. I know some want Coach to stay but I see serious leadership flaws. I do not have a clear understanding of Coach and his discipline of players (policy). I have yet to see him challenge the team on the side line during a close game. (Heck they were all close it seemed). In a nutshell Coach is a good man but will not lead Alabama to the level in which many of use knew. IS there a man out there who will come to Alabama and right the Ship putting her back on course? Yes, but will the President and AD make that decision. :BigA:

Cecil has been on Shula for a while. I think his final straw was when Shula totally dismissed Cecil's, "Shula's offense is fundamentally flawed" article like he was some kind of hack.

YES YES YES

this is by far the best combination of a reputable source and belief that Shula won't be back I've seen yet. Finally, the answer to the question I've been wanting to know all along, will he be back, and Cecil Hurt chimes in with a "NO".

As of Saturday, no one had said -- on or off the record -- that the point of no return for Shula’s tenure had been reached. But it’s hard to look at the events that have unfolded -- or to hear the rumblings that started weeks ago -- and draw any other conclusion.

I really doubt that. CH has no axe to grind with Mike Shula, far from it from all indications. He's paid to offer his opinion and does so as clearly as he can.

Unfortunately for our current head coach, there's not much positive an honest observer can say about how he's been running the football program this season.

All things considered, I admire Cecil for his restraint.

In another thread there is a link to a Mitch Dobbs article on BamaMag that brings up the proposed changes.
Now Hurt mentions it.

Wonder if they have the same source;
or if Dobbs is Hurt's source;
or did it come from two sources?

Re: Cecil Hurt article for tommorrow (Link)

CH had previously written articles stating his concern about the lack of leadership by CMS. This writing restates the same. It is obvious he supports a head coaching change.
I trust he has access to reliable sources within the admisistration. But, he carefully chose his words, not stating that head coaching change is coming. If CMS is retained for 07, Cecil has also covered that as an option as well. Maybe he knows the answer, just protecting his sources.

Everybody that has said that Shula wasn't going had "sources". Those who said he was gone had "sources". People with "sources" have said SOS is our next coach. Those with "sources" say we want get him. Same with Saban and so on. My "simple common sense" has figured out that all these sources can't be right.

I agree. The thing that speaks loudest right now is the silence. I don't know what is going to happen, but the silence is pretty telling...
