just because you don't see people caring about stuff doesn't mean they don't
Well clearly. But people are generally vocal about the things they care about most. When people voice outrage over the killing of a lion but remain silent on the human atrocities going on all around us, it shows how skewed priorities are.

i think it just shows the go along crowd mentality that is inherent in social media

Twitter is made for outrage du jours. Those who live on social media and tweet 20x a day have to find content to intertwine with their otherwise meaningless posts. There's a world outside of social media where people don't put every thought or belief in a 140 characters.

Baiting to lure an animal out of a protected reserve is reprehensible, IMO.
If he was able to be lured out of a protected reserve...then, it wasn't too protective of a reserve. It's an animal, period. What the hunter did wasn't right...but good grief people...there are so many things RIGHT HERE CLOSE TO HOME, that deserve attention so much more than a lion being killed.

You do understand that they drove ONTO the reserve to lure him out, right? They didn't lay a carcass just outside of the boundaries and wait for him to catch the scent and come out to feed.

funny, I made a big stink not too long ago about human atrocities largely driven by American Evangelical Christians in Uganda and several people that share your views in this thread did nothing but attack me for it. Don't recall you rushing to my defense there....

maybe I just need to care about the right victims? Or maybe not about the wrong scumbags?

No, it was because you chose to crap all over someone's thread, essentially passing judgement on them without even knowing if they were affiliated with the group you were talking about, instead of starting a thread to discuss it.

I'm sorry I don't get on and read every thread every single day looking for your comments. I'll do better next time.

Maybe its more just because you constantly bring up "how bad the Christians are" and it takes away from the horrible things the people in the article you posted. You have to accept Christianity is big in the south, and there are a great number of people who identify themselves as christians and maybe either view your rhethoric extreme or take it out of context. I mean, noone can claim "christians" havent done atrocities in the past. You can list things like The Crusades, indulginces, and many other things, but it comes across as a stereotype when its a constant negative angle used. There are alot of moral to themselves christians that accept change is inevitable in society and are not in your face about their beliefs. The media and some activists try to do the very thing they accuse Christians of doing, and that is stereotype and generalize. They conclude that all christians are like Westboro or so opposed as Roy Moore, but how can you determine an accurate percentage of that?

To each their own... Back to the lion. Sad story but why everyone is in such a rage is still Greek to me.

sorry for the derail, Bazzaa, back on topic

Zimbabwe wants him extradited https://news.yahoo.com/killer-cecil-lion-extradited-zimbabwe-says-090055378--finance.html
Do we have an extradition treaty with Zimbabwe?

EDIT -Never mind, found it:
Under a 1998 treaty between the two countries - which have not enjoyed cordial relations in the latter stages of Mugabe's 36 years in charge - a person can be extradited if they are accused of an offence that carries more than a year in prison.

In Zimbabwe, the illegal killing of a lion is punishable by a mandatory fine of $20,000 and up to 10 years in prison.
