Typical SI. How can you have a poll like that without either Joe Namath or Kenny Stabler on the QB ballot?????
Got to say that given their college careers they don't quite have the numbers to compete with these guys. It's nothing against their abilities - they had more ability than Weurffel does in his pinky - but the era. When you ran the ball 75-80% of the time you don't have a chance to put up huge numbers.

I'm surprised Spurrier wasn't picked as the QB. Didn't he also handle FGs back then? I know he won the Heisman. Just shocked that Weurffel got the nod over Spurrier.

If you go to the SEC records page, you'll see that the SEC has like 6 Heisman winners. The SEC has won that many titles in about the last 15 years. Pretty silly.

For some reason my Blocker(which I am 15 so my parents set it really high) is not allowing me to access the page because of the keyword "LUST" so can somebody copy it down?
Thanx to anybody that does.

Lucedale, Ms
One could easily make an All Time SEC Team with just Bama players.
We've had so many great ones. I guess CNNSI just had to spread the wealth.

To me, I think there are a lot better Quarterbacks than Danny Werf..(Whatever!) Like Namath, Stabler, Jay Barker, Manning (x3), Tim Couch, Pat Sullivan just to name a few.
The only other slot I think could be better was punt/kick off returner....How could "The Duce" David Palmer not be on that list?
O-well just my 2 cents.

I love that all three linebackers are from Bama. I miss the 2005 defense.

I really don't have a problem with Wuerffel. He did hold the record for QB rating before Boise States QB broke it a couple of years ago. No one has ever thrown the fade better. Peyton made too many stupid mistakes in big games and got his team beat. I don't ever think uf ever lost because of Wuerffel's QB play. I always been a fan of Wuerffel. If his receiver beat your corner, Wuerffel hit them deep every time.
