And Lane got po’d because an Ole Miss reporter on Friday after the game made a comment about “hoes can’t be housewives”?

Seems like he is making that analogy ring true.

Would prefer they keep Durkin or another terrible candidate. I wonder if Golesh will be told he is keeping Nix and Durkin... Because, oh yeah, we are running the program and not you Coach!

Question for Lane: If you want to be the head coach of a championship program, what is preventing you from accomplishing that at OleMiss??? Is your current salary the only obstacle? Is it a recruiting issue? Need more NIL money? So does everyone else.

If you feel OleMiss is a dead end. Go ahead and leave. But you made a commitment to these players. You should have told LSU and everyone else, back off. I'm devoting all my time and energy to my team. After the season is over, I might talk with you about being your coach next year .

I can’t see OM or LSU allowing him to continue at OM. Early signing day is a couple of weeks off and he’ll need to concentrate on his new team. If I’m the OM AD, I have him escorted off the campus immediately and not allow him to address the team. If you want to go, then go. Also, OM has done enough to make the playoffs so they should be in regardless of who is coaching. Don’t punish the team because the coach is a jerk.

Apparently Sabans advice to him was he could get better players at LSU. Which I disagree in this day and age of NIL and portal. Ole Miss has same re ruining pull as anyone in the SEC.

Golesh is a very good hire. Maybe better than Sumrall

I think Lane is who he is and Ole Miss isn't as flashy of a place for him to leave a "legacy". LSU will find that out when he jumps to the NFL in a couple of years. Heck he might be angling for heading to NOLA with the Saints.

IDK why Lane wants the added pressure. I mean as soon as he gets off the plane in LSU, its Natty or bust. If he doesnt win one in 3 years he will be out. In Oxford I believe they are quite content with Lane and getting in the playoff. Sure at some point Ole Miss might start pressing for a Natty but not like an LSU or UF.

Also I assumed Lane was looking for a place to settle and stop looking for that place that gives him peace. Well he seemed like he found it in Oxford but guess not. I would not want to hire him knowing more than likely at some point he is going to jump ship and take staff with him like he is doing now. He is becoming his own liability.

It would not shock me if Lane does the sober, adult thing and decides to stay put.

His meeting with the team has been moved twice, now. It was supposed to be Saturday evening. Then this morning. Now this afternoon.

This was the one hire that worried me more than the other realistic ones because of the fits he’s given us at UT and USF, but he has a kind of attitude that will fit in well with the plains while not being “too Auburn” at the same time. I believe if they keep their defensive staff in tact, this is as good a hire as Auburn could’ve made. Yuck.

If lane goes to LSU (current rumor)

Should he be allowed to coach ole miss during the playoffs?

If Lane leaves, should ole miss still be allowed in the playoff? FSU couldn’t get in at 13-0 while missing a QB. How can you let in a team that doesn’t have their coach?

I understand it’s not very fair to the players, but it’s a reasonable question/(s)

It’s Apples to Oranges for me comparing the situation to FSU.

FSU had a borderline resume even if they had their QB that year and only had a shot based solely on being 13-0 in a weak conference.

They were trying to make 4 team field with Top 15 metrics and Bama had Top 5 metrics.

OM is 11-1 in the SEC and is in line for a Top 5-7 Seed depending on how CG week goes.

It’s a 12 team field and no way in hell do those players deserve to get shafted even more than they already will be by Lane ditching them.

They deserve a spot as a team more than The B1G CG loser, OU, ND, The BIGXII loser, The ACC Champ, Miami, Vandy a G5 team or anyone else on the Bubble.

They are absolutely one of the best 12 Teams.

They deserve a spot in a 12 team field even with an Interim HC.
