Coaching carousel 2025-26

For sure. Sexton has told him to let this swirl. Worst case scenario, nothing changes. Best case he gets a raise from Bama or Michigan. No sense in wasting the moment.

And as said above, you start talking about this noise at press conferences—even denying it—and there will be no other discussion but this.
DeBoer has not done enough imo to warrant a raise or an extension at this time.

I’d be inclined to tell him to take it on the arches if he and Sexton try to use the MI opening as leverage.

At some point you have to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.

If another team took CKD that OTHER team would owe Bama the buyout wouldnt they? I mean Bama owes NOTHING to CKD if he decided to leave on his own. Maybe I'm misunderstanding that.
The buyout if he leaves is probably in the 6-7 million range which he owes, the buyout if he is fired is in the 67 million range which the University would owe him. I don’t know the exact buyouts, but those are probably in the ballpark. It may be a big ballpark though.

If CKD leaves, would anyone want Glen Schumann for HC? Or would it be a case of coaching shuffle again? It’s awful late in the hiring cycle.

I seriously doubt DeBoer takes the Michigan job. Especially when there is a lot of smoke at this point is that he is in the process of hiring Derrick nix as his WR coach.
Is he the OC at AU for the new coach or old one?

Either way, if there is any truth to this, it might mean some of those AU receivers are considering coming over to the good guys. What about some of the OL AND DL...didn't one of them hit the portal last week???

Reactions: The Ols
I read an article about B. Nix, but at the very bottom it stated that there are other staff turnover expected at Bama (other than WR coach).

So you are telling me there's a chance we might change OL coaches??? 😁
I think that’s been stated on the board by some “insiders.” A change is needed there imo

Last I heard, but someone made the point that his offensive outlook and CKD's are pretty different. Pittman would have to buy in to the OL vision of Coach Deboer.
I wonder how much self evaluation DeBoer will do about his own system? Every good coach isn't afraid to adapt and change.

False comparison. And, no the delusional minority isn’t all that many people comparatively. And, no one of consequence pays them any attention
Thank you for this post - especially for the bolded observation.

The athletic administration and other ptb ignore the fans unless and until they agree with them.

The last time an Alabama AD listened to the fans was when the incompetent Bob Bochrath hired Mike DuBose rather than from the nice pool to which he had access. IMO, it was only to save money because his incentive laden contract was great affected by “expenses”. He seems to have cared little for the welfare of the program.

This was diametrically opposed to the motivation of his successor - the great, great Mal Moore, who not only had great judgment regarding who could coach, but loved the University. IMO, he had a tremendous influence on Coach Saban, thus, affecting his decision to remain at Alabama when he could have left for more money. IMO, Mal’s rare selflessness and love for Alabama was likely the difference.
