Link: Coaching Carousel Continues...

IT seems like the current configuration of the staff has plenty of recruiting heavy guys, does it not? Possibly more so, than past years. Probably not a bad thing having one veteran guy who can really coach and develop talent on the field.

So Saban Sends his last two DL coaches to the NFL (Dunbar and Davis) and somehow Pulls the best DL coach in college (only other guys comparable are Larry Johnson ,known to want to retire soon, and Odell at FSU) Wow anyone think these last few years lit another fire under Saban. Really think he got ....ed off at people saying we are done and so and so going to take over now. Him and Tosh aren't even fair to OL men for real.

Just perusing the web, these are some of the names CCK has developed:

Kony Ealy
Aldon Smith
Justin Smith
Michael Sam
Shane Ray
Markus Golden
Ziggy Hood
Charles Harris
Sheldon Richardson

This is not counting any Miami names of the last 2 years.

The following quote was from 2015, so I assume this includes only Mizzou players, "Kuligowski coached 24 players on his defensive line to all-conference honors and four first-round NFL draft picks." 24 All Conf players at UM in 15 years, the last 4 were in the SEC. That's almost unheard of anywhere, much less at UM.

I think that this (the way the staff was rebuilt) was indeed CNS's way of letting the world of college football (and all of those high schoolers, their families and coaches) know that he is far from finished with his work at Alabama. I think he intends to blow away CPB's record.

I just hope he turns coach Kirby into Mark Richt.

This hire could solve our problem with hot QBs for a while...

JMO, but I think the time to begin to pay attention to retirement talk would be after he wins the next national championship. Nothing`s guaranteed in life but to me, another national championship at some point in the next 3-5 years, is about as close as you can get.

Michael Sam was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. His credentials are impeccable. This guy can coach the defensive line up.

I wouldn't worry about recruiting with Alabama. Just do his job and it'll speaks for itself. Class of 2018 will be watching him closely this fall.

You mean `19 ? I think we`ll be fine. Recruiting may well not be his strongest suit, but CNS, with what appears to be an new emphasis on bringing good recruiters aboard, is not going to hire someone who can`t at least present well.

I think the recent recruiting success of Kirby and GA has also lit a fire under CNS with coaching hires and while our last recruiting class was certainly good....he's more comfortable with that number one spot:-). He's telling the rest of college football...."I'm coming and Hell is coming with me" RTR

This sounds like a great hire. I hope it is true. It will be an exciting spring, summer, and season for this year--for players, coaches, fans, etc.

I still wonder if Hugh Freeze will be hired as an Offensive Analyst?

I cannot wait for the season to begin Sept. 1! Roll Tide!

According to rival Fans the A in front of the tittle recruits itself.

With all due respect, Freeze needs to stay away from Tuscaloosa.

Well, I suppose if that were completely true, we wouldn`t miss on just about any recruit we want. I don`t think that we can say that that was the case this year. I do, however, think that the brand does indeed help.

I honestly have never heard of this guy, but I can see from some of the numbers he has improved teams' defenses wherever he has gone. And, of course, I trust Coach Saban when it comes to such things. So, Roll Tide!

Nor had I but then again like most professions, there`s a coaching fraternity. CNS, and I assume most any HC that`s worth his salt, is going to be in the know as to who`s doing what. That`s why the fact that he may not have been on some writer`s list as a " hot candidate " doesn`t bother me a whit.

Now let me see, Bama whiffs on half of the DL recruits in the 2018 class and we solve the problem by hiring someone who whiffs on all his DL recruits in the 2018 class(per the article in post #233 in this thread). Based on comments I have read on Tidefans, I thought that the reason Dunbar was gone was that he was not a good recruiter. An excellent coach but not a good recruiter. So we hire another good coach, but not a good recruiter?

Say it with me - position coaches don't solely recruit their position.
