Something doesn't seem right about this whole situation. Not even a sniff of something similar in the past from Leach. I'm going to have to see more facts before making a judgment, but based on gut alone, the Craig James interview left me wanting.
I wonder how much Craig James took while he was at SMU? I'm still tilted towards believing Leach more than anyone in the James family.

In one of two e-mails written by current Tech inside wide receivers coach Lincoln Riley, obtained Tuesday by Schad and ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach, Riley referred to James as "unusually lazy and entitled" and said he has been worried about James' effect on the rest of the receivers because of "his weak and conceited attitude."
In a separate e-mail, this one to the Texas Tech AD, Riley wrote: "Two practices before Adam James claimed he had a concussion, Coach Leach and I were forced to discipline him for poor effort from the previous practice and poor effort during the early drills of that day. This has been a common theme about Adam's work ethic and attitude during his entire career."

TT is looking pretty foolish in this whole scenario. Support from around the country is pretty much completely in Leaches corner.

TTU has treated Leach like crap for years. If they want him gone, well I say that they can "GIT THAR GUNS UP" for 3-9 seasons.
Regardless of what happens, Craig James and Adam James are going to be the ones that are vilified in this situation.
Adam James might as well leave TT because he has doomed himself with the student population, his teammates and anyone else that supports Red Raider athletics. The best thing that he could have done would have been to transfer before letting his daddy whine on his behalf. Now, it is doubtful that any other school is going to want him and his dad anywhere around their program.

I think it was extremely unprofessional of espn to put Craig James on air to talk about the situation. Craig is using his position in the media to hurt Leach. The people need the facts, not daddy's emotions. Most fathers would defend their son, so obviously Craig is biased. As it stands right now, everything that his lawyers and assistant coaches have said makes Leach look innocent. Regardless of what happens, Leach wont be at Tech much longer. I mean, why would he want to be after all of this? Tech probably wants him to be guilty of mistreating the player so they can fire him without having to pay anything.
I think Texas Tech and Craig James are going to end up with egg on their faces after its all said and done. Leach is a really weird guy, but he doesnt seem like the guy that would be cruel to his players.
Because some boosters that want Leach out are wanting him gone with cause and without giving him his 800k bonus that he receives on December 31.
According to Leach's lawyers there was a trainer and a grad asst trainer in the room w/ "little" James. I guarantee you this, no trainer is going to allow something stupid to happen and put the kid in jeopardy.
I dont think that kid realizes what kinds of trouble hes going to be in if he comes out a liar. And I dont think daddy realizes how bad hes going to embarrass himself and espn. I really hope this thing backfires on them.
I agree James shouldn't have commented on the issue publicly on ESPiN; He should have just issued a public statement about looking into the matter and a no further comment. He shouldn't use ESPiN to publicize the issue with his son, that's wrong. If ESPiN reports on it, thats different.
Like someone else stated, I'm withholding judgement on Leach until further info. The guy is a bit weird for sure, but player abuse has not came out before and I suspect there is something else at play here.

Wow, I'm amazed at the number of people on here taking CML's side in this....based on what his lawyer is saying. I tend to believe the player in a situation like this. Why would Adam James make this up? Why would the witnesses make this up? If this is true, CML should be fired. You do not do these types of things to players, especially injured ones. JMO.
I think it's based on other factors besides what CML and his lawyer are saying. There have been two position coaches that have come out and said that he was extremely lazy at practice and he felt a sense of entitlement because of his father. Also, he was disciplined 2 practices before this incident for lack of motivation. He was probably just embarrassed and is using his father's legal team and connections to ESPN to try and run CML out of TT. He has brought that team a long way and if they get rid of him they are going to have a hard time finding a big time coach willing to work there after they see the treatment he's receiving (especially for the 1.7 million a year he currently makes). JMHO!! RTR!!

Adam James does not come off sounding like an endearing character because of quotes like these:
Leach will have his time in front of a judge this morning and we will see what comes of this. In the meantime my opinion hasn't changed. I have read, listened and watched just about everything available and it's a lot of he said, she said and people's opinions. I read Adam's position coach told Leach that Adam wouldn't make the roster on a Div II team and his reputation is he is a slacker both on the field and in the classroom. Mike Leach is the one who didn't give up on him saying he thought he might be able to contribute and did get Adam into the games for 5-10 plays which might be more than if he were in another program. Mike Leach, like any other coach, is going to make the walking wounded attend practice if only to watch, walk the track or ride an exercise bike. From what I gather Adam wanted to hang out on the sidelines wearing his cool shades and cut up with the players. Maybe that is what set Leach off and he had enough of Adam as a distraction and sent him into isolation. Adam was diagnosed with a mild concussion, my expertise is not in medicine so I don't know how mild it is or what is the difference between a mild concussion and a concussion but from reports made by his team mates Adam was fine to go out partying every night. I think it was highly unprofessional of ESPN to allow Craig James a spot to take a shot at TT/Mike Leach but they also let Reece Davis, Mark May and Lou Holtz offer opinions. Based on opinions so far it looks like Leach is favored over the TT Admin and the James family. Personally I hope Mike gets to coach the bowl game.
I haven't heard much that indicates that facts of what happened are in doubt. What happeded is pretty much agreed upon. The issues seems to be that the James' take is that the kid was segregated/punished for not being able to practice due to mild concussion. That the coach's actions needlessly embarassed the player and perhaps placed him in jeapordy due to his concussed status. The coach is saying the kid was supervised/not endangered and his actions were meant to motivate the player to doing better. The team drs statement appears to back the coach re the player was not in any danger. This sorta leads me to siding w/the coach w/TT taking advantage of the situation to try and get rid of him. Embarassment is used as a motivation tool in a lot of training/team building situations.
I do not know if this was posted anywhere on the board but here is a newscast about the places where James was suppose to be placed in a closet.
