It should have been easy for Coach Cutcliffe and Hamilton to compromise on the staff issue. Say. for example, Cut agrees to bring 4 and retain 2 like Garza and Gran who he would surely recognize as being huge assets on his staff. The fact they couldn't agree leads me to believe Coach Cut foresaw himself as getting into an Al Davis running the ship relationship with Mike Hamilton. If there is a coach in football who would stand on principle it is David Cutcliffe.
If there is any truth to this then other coaches may be balking at facing such an arrangement. Again, IF there is any truth to this, Mike Hamilton's status at UT should really be revaluated. :frown:
I think UT should have hired both Cut and Dooley as co head coaches with Dooley getting the additional title of head coach in waiting. After all it was known that Cut was defacto head coach with Fulmer his last year at UT. Just talking.
As soon as I saw your post I remembered Gran being hired by FSU. Well, they say old people can remember their childhoods better than what happened yesterday. :redface:Gran is at Florida State now. Apparently a lot of these Tennessee posters think Cutcliffe would be a disaster
I got this from another site and I really don't now the validity of it, but apparently Lovie Smith is the man in play. Apparently Angelo and Smith are working on a buyout and that Tennessee has sent their plane to Cicago with a chance that Tennessee could introduce Lovie Smith as the new head coach by the end of the day.
Again I don't know the validty, but i read it on another site. As a Bears fan I am hoping this come true, because the Bears are facing their own embarrassment in finding OC/DC because of the lack of Smith's stability in Chicago. So as a Bears fan I hope this is true.
Same here from another Bears fan. I would love to see Smith leave as soon as possible. I'd like to see Bill Cowher take over as coach of "Da Bears". However, one source (at least) says that Cowher wants to hold out for the Giants job if/when Coughlin gets booted. I don't put much stock into that, though.I got this from another site and I really don't now the validity of it, but apparently Lovie Smith is the man in play. Thus proving that all Vols are not stupid.Wow a lot of the UT people are bashing Cutcliffe on there boards, saying he would be a horrible hire.
