How many of the eeyores would have wanted Saban fired after his first season?

Not saying, DeBoer will go on a run like Saban because that kind of run only happens once in a blue moon. What I am saying is.....give the man more than a season before running him out of town. What are we, Auburn? Give the man time to fill the roster with his kind of talent and to fully install his systems.
it really doesn't matter because he will never come close to matching what Saban did. No one could and the fan base will never be ok with it

The best we can hope for is to compete for championship every few years. Will not be elite under Debore

There’s a huge difference. There was an optimism after Saban’s first year. We knew it was getting better. With DeBoer, it feels like Shula. This isn’t going to end well.
I disagree with this, at least from my POV. I am more optimistic after Kalen's first year than I was after Saban's. I put more of the failure of this season, if you can call it that, on Jalen Milroe failure to developed as both a player and a leader.

As for the DeBoer/Shula comp, this a bit over-the-top, don't you think? Shula never HC before getting the job at Bama (or did he ever get another shot at HC after he left). DeBoer has won NC's as a HC. Invalid comp, imo.

The 2007 team ended the regular season with 4 straight loses including La-Monroe, MSU coached by Croom and a 6th straight Loss to auburn, then barely winning the Independence Bowl. Are you sure you're remembering correctly?

I am NOT in the corner of the fire Deboer group, but you can't compare what Saban walked into and what Deboer inherited. The cupboard was scarcely filled with Saban. And while, it didn't contain all name brands when deboer came in, it was very very well stocked. We underachieved against two teams we had better talent(OU) and much much better talent(Vandy). So nobody expected much Saban's first year. We expected better out of Deboer's first.

Hindsight is 20/20 but that was not the consensus then. As a matter of fact, Bama is being mocked for paying Saban $4M. He wasn't considered the GOAT back then, he wasn't successful at Miami. I'm not sure what you saw after 2007 season that convinced you? CKD has achieved more than Saban did by far in his first year.

I knew. KNEW. The way that he managed that 2007 roster told me. The way that he recruited told me. I had no idea that he would be the GOAT, but I knew that he would win championships at Alabama after the 2007 season

I’m glad you feel that way. Saban came in when we were at a very low point, and even though his first year wasn’t great, you could feel the upswing. DeBoer inherited a very good team and mismanaged it.

There was one thing with CNS that gave me confidence that Coach Saban was “the man for the job”. From the moment he stepped off that plane in Tuscaloosa, you knew who was in charge. Even after the struggles in 2007 and tough losses, Coach Saban was direct and to the point when he stepped in front of the media. No assistant coaches or players flapping gums. CNS as one unified voice. No Mumbo Jumbo and gobbilty goop coach speak like we have heard from CKD. And certainly not looking completely bewildered and lost for words like CKD was after the Oklahoma loss.

Coach DeBoer needs to learn this is big boy football. He is in charge. He must demand a high level of accountability from his players, his coaches, his staff and above all, himself. Show me this is “your program” and you’re in charge. Give me that and I’ll follow you to the gates of hades.

And that is something he hasn’t shown me.

I am always optimistic about Bama, it can be a blind spot at times, and I was hoping Saban would win Championships, but I remember being cautiously optimistic. I just see a lot of people put impossible expectations on CKD for his first year.

Did I think we'd compete for a NC this year? You bet I did but looking back over the past 11 months, it would be insane to accomplish that.

I'm a disappointed as the next guy but I see a very strong defense and an O that's a couple lineman and a better passing qb from being lethal. Future is bright, IMO. RTR

I get that we all are not happy with this year. I will not lie, during today's game I was very upset. That being said, I just took the time to read Jess's article on today's game and the season as a whole. It explains a lot to me about how this season and last went. It gives me a whole new prospective and encouragement to an extent. In particular, he points to the fact that our new coach just took over from the GOAT. The systems are different. The philosophy is different. Will our new coach succeed even when getting his system and players in place? Only time will tell. But after reading Jess's write up, I am encouraged that Coach needs time. I think these next few weeks and months and what coach does, changes made, etc will be telling...... I sincerely encourage all us Bama fans to read Jess's article...... Just my two cents worth......Roll Tide!!!!
