No. If we get a new coach, it's going to most likely be some mid-major coach and we will be taking two steps back. All we need is a couple of big, banging hard mothers to bang the boards to help with our outside game.

seriously? we shouldn't make a change because we might take a step back and have a bad season? what difference will it really make then?

For the folks that think that "recruits" are going to cure our ills, have you been living under a rock for 6 years? If we haven't got them over the past 6 years, we AIN'T gonna get'em! What about that do we not understand? I know that is a rhetorical question for some, but I just can't believe that people are saying that after the pattern that has developed over the past 6 years! :bs_quesexclaim:

Pinning Grant's failure on injuries is another crock - at no time during his tenure was the Tide soaring only to be bushwhacked by players going down. Another question: Grant hasn't beaten a Top 25 team in, what, three years - but did his teams ever crack that threshold and if so what was the ranking?

I'll wait till the end of the season. What if we go on a miracle run and win the NIT? Yes I've had a few in me and have higher hopes than I should
Going on an NIT run might would have packed some weight 30 years ago, but now that tournament is merely an after thought. With the resources we have available, we should be at least a bubble team every year, and every few years be competitive to win the SEC. Grant hasn't had us in that position in a long time, and we've digressed slightly each year under him. I love CAG as a person, and I wanted him to succeed, but he's not a fit with us. We need to move on.

I believe there needs to be a change, but I don't want Battle to fire Grant without having a hire ready. We don't need to enter a coaching search without having a replacement ready. Do not want to go weeks trying to find someone.

I tend to agree with Jess that he gets another year. Right or wrong, there is something of a leadership vacuum right now at the University concerning major moves in athletics with a lame duck president and AD so I suspect we will have to sink even further before we even consider making a change. Battle has made it clear he is going to give Grant every opportunity to succeed. We should not be surprised as CBB himself was ushered out with a pretty good record at UT as a coach, but couldn't beat us.

If we did make a move, I wonder if Vandy's Stalling would possible be a candidate. I think he is a pretty good coach.

At this moment, I don't see the difference in finishing .500 and not going to a tournament with finishing winless and not going to a tournament. Being conservative will only hinder progress for the program.

I voted 'Yes' it is time for a change.... However, I am with others that CBB and the PTB do not give rats butt about the basketball program. As long as the coach doesn't embarrass the University with their behavior and doesn't do anything to raise an eyebrow from the NCAA, they are safe in Tuscaloosa no matter how many games they might win/lose. If we get a new coach how do we know that CBB and the PTB won't handcuff them in recruiting by telling them any contact with AAU coaches/runners is not allowed b/c we don't need the NCAA getting a back door into the football program? Then we'd have the same situation we have now with no inside talent....

The problem is our roster next year shouldnt be a "rebuilding" year
You're right...for some reason I thought Tarrant was a Sr, and forgot that Retin had RS so he is a Jr... We actually have a good bit of talent coming back next year. Even more reason to make a move, imo.

In 6 years I have witnessed no progress in our team. None. From year to year, our offense has not gotten any better, no matter who we've recruited. Every year we've (I have even said) said the same things, "We just need one more big" or, "We need another shooter to spread the floor". The first three years you could excuse things. By year six, if you still have to make excuses then I say it's time to make a change.

Wow. This reads like "I'm in favor of a different head coach." Right?

Didn't realize that you, one of the faithful, optimistic, supporters, have thrown in the towel for Grant.

At the start of the season I thought he should have been kept. At this point in time I think he needs to go. The last few years I have watched Bama teams digress during the season. There is no excuse for this and it lies all on the coach.

I voted yes. While I have felt that way for most of the year, I became outspoken about it at the end of the Georgia game. The Vandy game was just icing on the cake. In the Georgia game the last second shot went to what I would consider the 3rd option for a last second shot. Even if you assume that wasn't the called play, there was one other major issue that I found with the play. Cooper had a good look at the basket but the defender wildly jumped to attempt a block. Most coaches teach their players to create a foul. Cooper actually made effort to avoid contact.

The Vandy game had a couple of glaring issues with coaching to me. I understand that it is tough to beat a team that hits 11 3's. However, look at the boxscore. We scored 38 points in the first half. We only scored 28 points in the second half. Did you notice that we scored 10 more points in the half in which we were offensively on the opposite side of the arena from our coach? The other glaring issue that I saw was when we were up 14 and Vandy went on a run. Grant did not call a time out until the lead was cut to 2. That is unacceptable.

Please explain. I don't understand this as a reply to my post, which I figure it is since you quoted me.
