I met Joe in early 1980’s. He was In Birmingham for The Town and Gown Theatre’s production of “Guys and Dolls”. He’s was hanging out at the hotel pool. We got to meet him because he was hitting on buddy’s girlfriend. 😂😂😂

Super nice guy. And his “playa” game was still strong even as he was approaching forty..

" between that commercial and the one with the woman rolling out of bed and out of her house"
This one appeals to me, whether on account of the cheery tune or the cutish woman/smile or just the sheer stupidity of the image. Or maybe 2020 has just driven me to the brink.

He and I were friends in school and used to play together at the old nine hole UA golf course. It was the only place he could get far enough away from Coach to smoke. Even then, he was pronouncedly hump-shouldered. I still have this image in my mind of his standing over a putt with a cigarette dangling out of the corner of his mouth, looking like a question mark in silhouette... :)

My mom said she literally bumped into him going into a restaurant when he was going out. He was five years younger but she thought it was funny he called her “ma’am” when saying “excuse me”.

I hate any commercial featuring a celebrity advertising a product for people needing an extra source of income or saving a few bucks. I mean, does Selleck really need a reverse mortgage? Does Aaron Rodgers get excited if his insurance agent gives him a special rate on his car insurance?
