Gene Stallings: "If I can see further than others, it's because I've stood on the shoulder of giants who came before me."

Not original to Coach, but I've heard him say it!

Came across a post earlier today from 20 years ago while searching for some quotes! I love Alabama Football Quotes!

What are your favorites (by Alabama folks or about Alabama)?

Aside from numerous coaching quotes, my all-time favorite is

"Well Eli, Smokey just came out of the tunnel, and he's about 100 yards away from me now, and if I had my deer rifle I believe I could drop him, back to you Eli" -- sideline reporter ( and former player ) Jerry Duncan's comments to Eli Gold just prior to kickoff against Tennessee.

Here's the story and audio:

PETA folks need not respond :D We're obviously in a much different time where that's probably a way out of bounds comment now, but it was truly a classic (and coarse) remark about how Jerry Duncan felt about Tennessee.
Bingo, that's a goodie!

"And believe me, to have been in the city of Tuscaloosa in October when you were young and full of Early Times and had a shining Alabama girl by your side--to have had all that and then to have seen those red shirts pour onto the field, and, then, coming behind them, with that inexorable big cat walk of his, the man himself, The Bear--that was very good indeed."

I can't post my 2 favorites in full because they have some profanity in them. But

Saban's "Because if it means something to you, you can't stand still" pregame speech is probably my all time favorite.

Followed closely by Damion Square "It ain't my fault he's the next man on the schedule" speech.

“What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, ‘I hate playing against these guys. I hate playing ‘em. Their effort, their toughness, their relentless resiliency to go out every play and focus and play the next play and compete in the game for 60 minutes in the game -- I can’t handle it.’...That’s the kind of football team we want.” -- Nick Saban

Who said this? Saban?

If they stay between the sidelines, Lee Roy will tackle them.

I know one thing, I‘d rather die now than to have died this morning and missed this game.

Well, I plan to be at every game, son.

You can‘t learn to ride a bicycle sitting on the porch.

If he had kicked it straight we would have blocked it.
If he had kicked it straight we would have blocked it. 1966 Tennessee Game in Knoxville?

If they had not held him Gusty would have tackled him. Shug on Stabler's run in the mud 1967.

If you want to see something that will make you puke! Coach Bryant on Connie Fredrick's 1969 fake punt and run for 80+ yards in the Iron Bowl.
