Hey everyone,

Happy holidays!

Long time viewer and fan and really enjoy the board but always been too busy (or lazy) to flick my thumbs and actually post.

Anyways I’ve always been very much into following recruiting and coaching in general. I know none of these guys will likely be it but I compiled my own list of candidates to replace Sheridan with some explanation for each:

1. Rick Bowie, qb/OC WKU. Also from the Tyson Helton tree as Brian Ellis. Former Abilene Christian OC where they lit it up and former Valdosta State OC where he also did very well and lit it up. Also young in mid 30s. Excellent young coach and could be groomed as qb several years or even TE/passing game coordinator and move Ellis to QB coach. Interestingly started on the high school staff at St Frances Academy in Baltimore.

2. Jonathan Brewer Duke OC/QB last 2 years (Duke was 14th in pypg this year) and SMU qb coach for 2 years before that. Young mid-30s with very good play calling experience and results. Could see another guy like this take a positional downgrade for a program upgrade like Bama like a bunch of coaches on our staff to raise his national profile in several years.

3. Jake Spavital, Baylor QB/OC. Baylor was top 5 this year in pypg and the guy is only in his early 40s with 6 other top 20 offenses in his career at different schools. He wasn’t great at Texas State but even accumulated hc experience for 4 years.

4. Finally Craig Stutzmann, San Jose OC/Qb in his mid 40s and Broyles semi finalist this year with a top 15 offense in pypg (they were 5th in the country last year). Also been very successful at Hawaii and Washington State as a OC

Much like the above 3 guys he could take a positional downgrade (just being OC or even TE coach) while Ellis moves to QB coach for a program upgrade to raise his national profile in several years.

All four guys could bring new fresh ideas given their own successes at smaller programs being very successful with qb and as playcallers and bring additional eyes to the offenses general future development.
