I hope he was not too psychologically damaged by the experience in Boulder.

I was a fan of Florida hiring Napier. I thought he would struggle in year 1, but things would improve in year 2. He has not lived up to his billing as an ace recruiter and I do not know if that will change. I think this is his make or break year. If he doesn't show marked improvement (8 or 9) wins then I think he is history. Enter Lane Kiffin, who is definitely a cultural fit in Gainesville.

Florida is a program that believes they should be able to ascend to dominance instantaneously. They dont do well with long development periods. They need someone in there that can bring a butt load of talent in every year and get the fans jumping and hollering with great offenses.

Napier could be a great coach in the making but I dont think Florida will be patient with him. I think their way forward is for a guy like Lane Kiffin to come in. But I dont know at this point what Lane is thinking about for the future.

I agree, and they did with Spurrier and Meyer, but the "times are a changin". Like you, I do not know what Kiffin thinks about his future in Oxford, but will say this, in the pecking order of the SEC there is Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and now Texas, then the other 11. IF he wants to be at a big time program and remain in the SEC then Florida would likely be his next stepping off point.

I remember when Florida was an also ran. My point is that it only takes the right coach to change the trajectory of an entire program. Maybe Kiffin believes he can do that for Ole Miss.

That's what I think he wants to do. With the way its going he will be a legendary coach at Ole Miss. He's taking a C-level program and turning it into a beta and occasionally alpha level or, at least, upsetting some alpha-level programs. He will have the field named after him if he averages 10 wins per season. One thing that will save him that didn't save Cutcliffe- is his dynamic personality, which resonates with Ole Miss. I think he might be a long-timer there. The only way he leaves is for Bama after Deboer is either fired or leaves for the NFL (if he has a lot of success).

He'd be a Perfect fit at UF.

I've said countless times he's basically Spurrier 2.0 with the Personality and the Offensive Ingenuity.

He'd be hard to beat at the Swamp.

That place is INSANE and LOUD when they have a Really Good Program going.

I’ve always said if you take away Spurrier and Tebow, then UF is basically Kentucky or Miss St.

That being said, I don’t want Kiffin anywhere near UF.

With no guardrails in place on recruiting and player transfers I could see Kiffin being successful at Florida
