I've abstained from commenting up to this point, but I would like to butt in to thank the mods for maintaining control of what has obviously been a highly emotional thread. Your patience is appreciated.
Agreed. An even more refreshing aspect, in my opinion, has been a lack of minimizing the severity of what happened. A well moderated board indeed. And to think they do it on a volunteer basis.

Re: Four Bama football players arrested...

One of the things I noticed about this is that one of the guys that was beat up and robbed is on the CW staff. I'd be interested in knowing if the CW in general or this student is particular had written or was going to write about EW's earlier problem at the BP station. Perhaps someone called to get EW's side of what happened and so he knew the story was coming. Motivation is a difficult thing at times to prove, but is it possible he wanted to punish the CW staffer or intimidate them into not publishing it? Maybe stole the laptop to delete the article before it went to press? Doesn't make a lot of sense, but nothing about this does to me. I'd also be interested to knowif the first student resembles the second in any way. Could be way off-base.

I really sort of doubt it. I think EW was dissatisfied with his FB progress (and one of the others had threatened to quit over lack of PT and then tweeted about it), and thought he was gone anyway. I think he just wanted to take out his rage and frustration. He would have had less than 24 hours to find out about a story and identify and learn the description of a possible writer. I don't think so. IMO, it was just frustration and anger and, when all's said and done, I'd guess the targets were small, had big promising backpacks and were perhaps not as alert as they should have been...

Re: Four Bama football players arrested...

I looked on facebook. Neither seemed like the kind of guy who would take on 3 SEC football players in the right state of mind. Kind of blows up the idea of there being "another side to the story."

Of course, three signed confessions are just as good at doing that...

Yeah. Not too many National Merit Scholar/class valedictorians are the type to confront a bunch of FB players. It goes along with my theory that Williams wanted a target he could easily beat senseless...

Just to be clear: I was talking about getting his side of what happened at the BP before these attacks and not getting his side about these attacks.

Re: Four Bama football players arrested...

This just won't end...
It's not going to end until the University makes a final decision and expels these 4 and/or CNS permanently dismisses them from the team. This is the 2 time defending National Champions. Everybody, especially our enemies, will not let it end until UA and CNS make the decision they need to (and I think will) make. I'm sure it won't happen until it can be done by the letter of the law without potential repercussions to the University. Unfortunately for the victims, especially the victims, and the team, it probably won't end soon.

Re: Four Bama football players arrested - was progress of Eddie Williams & B. Callowa

but your premise that somehow Nick Saban is not being held responsible for this matter is absurd. you are attacking a strawman.
Sorry I guess I misunderstood the following post and the "likes" to mean people felt CNS wasn't responsible at all for the actions of his players. My mistake. I guess there is a difference between responsibility and accountabilty to lawyers, but to the rest of us it means pretty much the same thing.

OK, everyone drop the 'CNS accountability' talk, the assumptions that topic is based on are ludicrous.

It was just something that crossed my mind when I read that one of the guys was a CW staffer. No research went into it since I've been at the dentist office much of the day getting a repair on a chipped tooth. I will offer that would be someone he might have a little extra motivation to target and these attacks were brutal. Rage seems to be the right word. Like I said, just a thought that perhaps he was raging against anyone or possibly someone in particular or because they were associated with the CW. I'm not even 100% sure either was on the CW staff. Had just read it somewhere. Not that it matters in the end why he did it.

I've been pretty cool about it, but you've absolutely ignored what I said earlier about this.

I'm not sure if you're being deliberately obtuse, but it's time to drop it.

Re: Four Bama football players arrested...

Do any of you have any doubt the University & CNS will do the right thing?

Name me one thing CNS could/should have done to prevent this !

Stuff like I have read here would cause a coach to leave, do you want him to leave?

If you think what happened wit these 4 men is anything like UT, API, or FL then you don't follow Alabama football.

Eith trust the coach & Adminstration or call for their removal, stop dancing around it. Where do you stand?

Re: Four Bama football players arrested...

Well, I'll be glad when it does. But the victims here I feel deeply for. These things shouldn't have happened regardless of what anyone says.
Yep. It appears to be random ppl and that is scary to parents with college kids. I want our players to get their due process, so we'll get a bit of grief in the media. I'd rather CNS take his time and do things properly and take a little bit of grief for "acting slowly" than for facts to come out later that change the story (I doubt that happens). Throwing ppl under the bus probably wouldn't sit well with some in the locker room once the guys are gone.

As bad as the situation is, he's doing the correct thing in this case. I can't but think though, although he may be doing the right thing what if it was my child.

I agree. Some of the stuff is absurd (not going to get into it); but every fanbase has their quirks. I doubt CNS reads the site, but I'd say the vast majority of Bama fans don't put this on CNS. Like I said in my other post; give the kids their due process, but the simple truth formula is:

confessions + brutality of crime + history of indefinite suspensions under CNS = eventual dismissal

If I'm a parent of a victim, I want the players off the campus immediately. I'd also tell the DA that I want to be informed of the proceedings and that if any defendant actually assaulted my child, I'd want them in jail; I would be unhappy with probation for a kid that attacked my child (presumably unprovoked; but my opinion changes if this was somehow agreed mutual combat; I doubt it was, but I want the caveat in there). If Calloway only used my kid's card, I'd be fine with deferred probation (I'm in Texas, so I'm not sure if AL calls it what we do in TX). If I'm a parent of one of the players, I'd be pretty sure my child will be expelled and probably facing probation or jail time; but if he's given a fair hearing with the school, I'll still have respect for the institution that doesn't throw my child under the bus too quickly.

That's seems about right. Just plain sad...

Four Bama football players arrested...

Sorry if this has been discussed - but I thought I would post in this thread rather than create a new one. I have been buried on a trip this week. I boarded today on the way home from Phoenix and a Bama fan sitting in front of me mentioned some twitter postings (not good ones) from current players. Has anyone heard this has or is it just a rumor? I won't mention the names or what they allegedly tweeted so as not to fuel any rumor. If it is out there I am sure someone has seen it.
