Fran removed the last names from A&M's jerseys

I was watching the game today and they said that Fran made that decision based on last years performance by the team. He said "they haven't played well enough to represent the name on the front of the jersey, why should the have their names on the back." He wants them to become one big family and stary playing as one. Can you imagaine if he had pulled a stunt like that at Alabama? I think that he should remove the title head coach from his since he doesn't have the morals of one :biggrin:

Actually Alabama used to not have the names on their jersey's.

I wish that was one thing we would go back to.

The theory is to play as a team, not individuals. See ND, USC- no names on jersey's.

I agree. No names on the jerseys is another positive distinguishing feature from the prima donnas of the NFL.

Unfortunately, no names on the jerseys could be a recruiting handicap these days. I still like the idea of taking the names off again.

You know, Coach Bryant had the names on the jerseys his last couple of years. I have never understood why this is such an issue with people. The one person who has the potential to be "puffed up" with individual pride by having their name displayed can't even see it when wearing the jersey. :conf2:

Based on yesterday's performance......

He should also remove their numbers from their jerseys. (;-)

Another reason we should leave names on our jerseys!

Actually, multiple coaches have done this in both basketball and football. I remember a couple years back Steve Alford removing the names from Iowa's basketball jerseys for the same reason as Fran is this year.

Well, up close, the numbers on the crimson jerseys are a cream color. I thought that was kind of odd.
