FSU's Norvell fires both coordinators and WR coach

I think he is in a bad position. If he doesn't get rid of assistants as has been insisted, then he runs the risk of going down the path of Shula when he refused. I see both sides, but I think the coaches in question did well when they had the players to pull the wagon. When the cupboard was bare, they were unable to produce any results. Yes, the buck does stop with him, but that also includes the Assistants that he hired and put trust in for his administration. There are other things that the coaches in question have not produced in planning, self-scouting, etc.... that are some of the intangibles for the position. I expect to see more gone by the end of the year.
I agree, but they have been with him for years. They helped get him that huge pay raise. Now they get fired.

Coaching is brutal. You work 80 hours per week and literally give everything that you have to the game, but the game has no loyalty or memory.

Not sure who can fix FSU. It feels like the team has just been lost completely. They're 31st in recruiting right now and don't have any coordinators. Gonna be awfully hard to right that ship for Norvell.

Agreed. He never should have been head coach…

Norvell just needs to cruise along... Chill... Don't work too hard...

And walk away with bank when they fire him.

Most of all don't get fired for cause.

Yeah, FSU is fixable, but it's not the slam-dunk it was just a few years ago. Look at UF - also with a recent history of winning at the highest level, yet wallowing around in mediocrity as the game has changed so dramatically in the last five years.

Someone can step in and right the ship in Tallahassee, but it's going to take the right coach, and I've no idea who that might be. Anyone who has proved they can do this will likely go to a more healthy program, so FSU might flail about listlessly for years while they try to find the right guy.

I know a lot of FSU grads and feel badly for them. I know what it's like to come from a once-proud program that seemingly can't find its way anymore - it sucks.

Cignetti. They might have become desperate enough to let discipline and fundamentals back into the program.

Never underestimate the desperation a desire to win brings out in certain people.

Only issue with Cignetti would be his age. He turned 63 back in June. Even if they forced Norvell out at the end of next season, Cignetti would be bumping up against 65 in his first year as FSU head coach.

He rights the ship and identifies a successor. A resurgent FSU is an attractive school. Pay him handsomely to flip the program and leave.

I don't! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

That being said, you are right. One of the big things that the current staff isn't doing is recruiting the High Schools. They are living and dying by the portal!

With the state of college football now ,if your a coach north of 50 who wouldn't want a 63mil buy out.
