Nice analysis.......and I respect picking with your heart. Nothing wrong with that........they respect us. That's the important part.

Nice reading except for the predicted winner! :biggrin2: RTR!!!

I'm actually shocked that both of our analysts picked VT*. If these guys think VT will lose, then they will pick them to lose.

* To Will's credit, he did state his pick was made more from the heart instead of from the head.

I thought the article was fair and balanced. I disagree of course with the
predictions, but realize that these guys have their VT shades on as much
as we wear Crimson shades.

Nothing wrong with some optimism. Hey were are both undefeated at this point!

I love the fact they had the weather forecast at the top. I think that could be the key factor in the game. :rolleye2:

I agree that was a nice write-up and one that seems about as thorough & fair as I've read from a rival site (other than the predicted outcome;)).
I've thought all along this game with be fairly close, and IF JJ and MI don't play along with the loss of Deaderick, it will be even closer. I think BAMA will be fine without those guys, as our depth is much better than last year, but it certainly takes some of the wind out of us fans to know that JJ & MI might not play.
As for the hype for VaTech, Clemson did get a ton of hype last year leading up to the BAMA/Clemson game; all we BAMA fans heard was analyst after analyst predicting a Clemson win by 10 pts or whatever. In fact I only remember one prominent guy giving BAMA a shot in the game, it may have Herbstreit, not sure.
I'd agree I don't think VaTech's gotten the same pub as Clemson did, and neither has BAMA really, but in Clemson's case, I think it def went to their heads a bit and they thought they could cruise through the game against Alabama. Their play reflected that.
So that may not be a bad thing for either of our teams going into this Saturday.
Good article though, thanks for sharing.

That thread was readable. Of the remainder, or at least the ones concerning the upcoming game, about half are chest-beating and the other half ridicule Bama or Alabama residents in general. As a consequence, I read very little there. Sorry, but that's the way I see it...

Our best blog is tailgatefever.com

He really slowed his updates down last season, so I'm worried that the blog may be down, but the guy was pretty funny.

I'll link it when/if he writes something... Remember it's all tic, and he takes plenty of shots at VT as well.

Haha there's no chest-beating here? Riiiiight. I do agree that tsl is not much more than "readable". The format is terrible. There are plenty of very reasonable and very intelligent posters there, but there are also plenty of flamers that get quite annoying.
My favorite blog is Kyle Tucker Kyle Tucker | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com. He often puts a hokie spin on things (which is possibly why i like reading it so much:)) but he is very accurate and informative and always has plenty of great quotes, including some from saban himself. He's blogging about bama all week.

If you can't tell the difference, then there's no point in discussing it. How about the "ridicule" part? Do you see ridicule of VT here? If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll link some stuff from that site for you to read...

sure was a lot of talk about this game, but, i will make it short and sweet.

our top 3 defense, nr. 1 or 2 against the run, if they live up to expectations, this game will be over early. the only hope va tech has that they can have a decent rush game, against our strongest unit. the tech qb is no better off than our qb mcelroy. taylor is not a good passer, and even with his potential to run, will not be enough to win. mcelroy i believe will have a good overall game. after all he has carried the clipboard for two years, i am sure he learned something, especially being all state qb in a big time texas high school with the likes of mccoy, bradford, and chase daniel.

No offense, I think McElroy will be a great QB for you guys before its all over, but he may have some difficulties in this first ever start. Tyrod was a 5* guy coming out of HS too and is going into his junior year. I think both QBs will be very good by year's end. But, this is a tough opener for an inexperienced QB. Should be a great one!

Good luck, I hope JJ and MI can play!

After reading that I have visions of the two ugliest games in recent memory, Florida State/Miami with 3 total rushing yards and Auburn/Miss State 3 - 2 score. Someone reassure me it wont be that ugly.

Good analysis, but he shows his ignorance when he assumes VT will have an advantage because they are the home team. That dome will be Crimson!!!:BigA:

If I had to choose, I would rather have G. Mc instead of tie rod. If I had to choose I would rather have Bamas' D than Va. Techs, I would rather have Bamas' receivers and running backs than VPI's, I would rather have Bamas' special teams than VPI's, I like our talent on the O line more than VPI's. What else is there? I say pound the rock up the middle and then pound it some more, I can't see them stopping a healthy Mark Ingram and Roy Upchurch. Pound, pound, pound right at them, smash mouth at it's best.

I didn't disagree with you...in fact i believe i agreed with you when i said there were plenty of flamers on there. I'm not sure what the argument is here.
