It's brilliant.
Been a fan of Formula I for much of my life. We anxiously awaited the Netflix series for the last three years. Sky and ESPN follow the series with practices, qualifying and the races on live. The sport has one of the largest audiences for sporting events around the world.

I really like the Netflix series, but the next time I watch a car race of any kind will be the first time I do so, and I am not sure what would have to happen to get me to that point of sheer boredom. ;)

This is PBS -- but I am enjoying Hemingway, by Ken Burns. I recorded it and am watching for the 2nd time...he was my first "favorite author" when I read "The Old Man and the Sea." I am intending to reread most of his better works while recovering over the next 3-4 months. Having been to Cuba (2x) this series is so powerful to me...I actually sat on a stool in the bar where he had his afternoon toddy and enjoyed a beverage...

I have to say I spent most of my life in NASCAR country and never gave a hoot in Hades about auto racing, but I find Formula 1 races fascinating. The level of engineering, strategy, and skill is at a high level, and the tracks are highly varied - in one lap cars will go between 50 and 200 mph. Plus F1 races are a lot shorter than other racing leagues.

Even if you don't do the races, I recommend the Senna movie if it's still on Netflix.

Agreed...and to think that those guys get in cars that offer little of the protection of NASCAR....they are incredible.

It’s better than it used to be - still can’t believe Grosjean walked away from that crash and fire in Bahrain. Watching older races is mind-boggling - those guys risked their lives with every race and fatalities weren’t all that unusual. Senna’s death seems to have forced F1 to get serious about driver safety.

Apparently Grosjean will be racing in the US Indy car series this year. I have watched his accident several times and can only conclude that much safer barriers are needed at high speed sections of any racing circuit . This was a major oversight by the FIA in my opinion. This weeks race at Imola returns to the circuit where Senna and Roland Ratzenberger died in April 1994. There are various theories on the cause of Senna's crash including a possible broken steering column. I believe the actual cause of his death was the right front wheel slamming into his helmet. This is the major reason the titanium Halo was installed to protect the driver cockpit. This no doubt saved Grosjean last season. Today Indy car cockpits are fully enclosed.

There have been many safety improvements since the 70's and 80's an era where major drivers had a very real probability of death or terrible injury. It is a long list.

I’ve watched several of these. It is very fascinating.
Rugby mixed with MMA
Polo with a dead goat
Drag racing water buffaloes
Are those the names of documentaries or your weekend plans?

I am enjoying Invincible on Prime. Animated series brought to you by Robert Kirkman, creator of Walking Dead. At a high level it is about a teenager learning how to become a super hero. There is some graphic violence. The voice cast is amazing and the storytelling is very good.

I also enjoy The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers from Disney+. Just some nostalgia there.

doing the same for breaking bad
If you ever come out to Albuquerque you can take a Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul tour in the same kind of RV that Walter White used to cook his meth. They show you all the landmarks from the show (Los Pollos Hermanos is actually a burrito place).

My uncle has traveled west often and said the house that was the White residence is off limits because people kept throwing pizzas on the roof.

But funny thing is that I turned down orders to Kirkland (NM) to go to Offutt instead (NE).
