Crime Blotter: Georgia player arrest catch all thread - the thread we never knew we needed

Speaking of trouble with the POPO, I didn't know our buddy agiye hall got busted with 40 pounds weed. At the airport of all places. Just sentenced to 18 months probation. Oh well.

40 pounds!?! That would classify him as a dealer, would it not?

Sounds like the DA must be a friend of the family...

Correct, he was charged with trafficking. Got off easy. Remember, the DA can recommend any sentence but the judge has to agree, and they usually do. To me probation is fine , if he gets his act together, we don't need more young men in prison for doing something stupid and nobody was hurt, but at an airport? Have you guys ever been to hartsfield-jackson in Atlanta? There are more cops than passengers, and it's the world's busiest airport.

Is dealing weed still illegal, and if so, why?

Not true, even in Colorado you can't deal weed privately, the state wants its huge cut, why can't people understand this.
Here in Virginia it’s legal to possess up to an ounce for personal consumption and you can grow up to 4 plants per adult in the house and you can “gift” up to an ounce to another adult in private, but no one can legally buy or sell weed…not even the state because the government hasn’t authorized legal sales.

Makes a lot of sense.

DEA asked Hall “Why do you need 40 lbs of weed? His reply “uhhhhhh…personal consumption?” The agent asked “40 lbs???” Hall said “well I was planning a long weekend….”

40 pounds isn't a lot for personal consumption if your name is Snoop Dogg or Willie Nelson.

I mean, yes, it's still illegal.

Regardless as to whether we agree with the law, it's the law.
Exactly. Let's please agree on the color of the sky. We have to have basic facts in common or we have nothing.

Marijuana is still against Federal Law. When you use an airport (fed controlled) and cross State Lines (interstate commerce) you're subject to Federal penalties for Federal crimes. I was hoping Biden would do the simplest thing in the world and decriminalize it.

Also, because something is legal does not make it moral, i.e., Segregation. Conversely, because something is illegal does not make it immoral, necessarily.

I knew that - just pointing out that this is a victimless crime that is questionable in its origins. He hurt no one but himself, and risked no one but himself, with his stupidity.

Federal employees can't touch the stuff at all... the real thing that 'gets me' is that my wife can't buy stock in publicly traded companies that grow and sell the stuff based on my job... She has her own retirement investments, as do I, and I have report everything she and I do... It makes me mad!
