Georgia Week- what are your thoughts?

Yeah, according to that prediction the rain will likely be gone by then.
There’s a front coming through now that’s going to drop us into the 70s for highs tomorrow. Potentially 3-4” of rain between the front and the backside of the tropical formation. It looks like the severe weather will be on the front side of the tropical stuff.

While Beck doesn’t have Milroe’s level of running ability, he is still an effective runner when he needs to be. I remember Wisconsin hitting us with one or two designed QB runs early in that game with some success. But I wonder with Beck’s shoulder injury if UGA will stay away from some designed runs for him in this game that they might have intended on using.

I'd be very hesitant as a HC to run my quarterback who already has a shoulder issue. All it takes is one hit and he's watching from the sidelines for the rest of the season.

Yea tbh I hope they run Beck. That seems like a safe play overall for us. Much scarier if Beck has time in the pocket.

It's not his throwing shoulder, so I doubt it will be a major concern for them.

It doesn't have to be a throwing shoulder to be a concern. If he takes off running and gets plowed to the ground on top of the already compromised non-throwing shoulder and it becomes immobile. He's probably on the sidelines with that arm in a sling for several weeks.

Just try to catch a bad snap with a busted non throwing shoulder..... It aint happening.

Bama and UGA are similar in that both are more talented than a large majority of the teams they play…so while there have been some offensive schemes that could cause problems for both defenses, the talent gap would eventually win out. The fist fight games were usually with the few teams that had the talent to go with the scheme. So I’m interested in seeing if we can cause the UGA defense some issues from a schematic standpoint matched with elite talent.

My concern on offense is if the UGA defense is able to hold up against the run and speed up the game for Milroe by having success getting pressure on him. Milroe tends to struggle with decisions and execution in general at times when a team is able to speed up his decision making process. That said, I think a key to this game could be if Milroe were to make a few explosive runs on pass plays that breakdown. Milroe is good at designed runs, but he’s a complete handful when he’s decisive on pulling it down when the pass or protection isn’t there. If he can make explosive plays even when the defense does everything right, then I like our chances even more.
Points taken but I believe we have the better coaching staff and talent. I am sure that Coach knows what he has in Milroe and will mitigate decision making as much as possible in a game like this. But still, gotta let the kid play his game and I suspect we will see more designed runs and TE passes in this game than what we have seen to date. Gonna be a good game for sure.

Its not going to take Beck running to get popped on that shoulder though.

Our new defensive scheme applies more pressure. If Beck gets hit like Keenan hit the Wisconsin QB, blind side truck....that's gonna hurt.

I'm more worried about stopping Etienne consistently. We get more pressure on the QB, but we allow more 7-8 yard runs up the gut.

Yep, we no longer "mush rush" because our DL plays single gap and gets upfield more.

If Beck takes a few of the types of hits we put on the Wisconsin QB he may take himself out of the game. LOL!

Good thing they installed a new SOTA SubAir Sport System last year - field should be in good condition despite all the predicted rain.

I expect a lot of scheming by CKD in this game to try and keep UGA from doing what it wants on defense. Granted, I know UGA will try and do the same thing to us, but I fully anticipate our alignments will be schemed as such so UGA is forced to have vulnerabilities we can take advantage of. At that point, it's about recognition and execution.

How we won a few of those games I'll never know. I think having the GOAT on the sideline was a huge factor. But Georgia looked like the better team in some of those games for a good majority until we forged a comeback.

Brady was just citing conventional wisdom that it would be better to play with a lead than to get in a hole. I think all of us would agree. That doesn't mean teams that get behind can't make a comeback. We know better.

In big games, CNS played it conservatively. Some might argue too conservatively. The team also played tight in some of those games. LSU and Georgia are the two teams we'd often do this against.

I mean, who are we to argue with what he did because it usually worked out, but I'm looking to see how CKD coaches in games like this.

The one thing I'd like to see us do more in these types of games is come out swinging with fast starts instead of feeling the other team out and having to often come from behind.

It'll be interesting to see how his style compares to CNS's.
DeBoer is extremely aggressive - extremely. Jalen’s proclivities are right down his alley.

I just don't think Kirby is as good of a defensive mind and Kalen is an offensive mind. We will dictate the play and they will be making adjustments.
I think it's gonna be a good battle. Kirby, did say something to the fact in his press conference that what we are doing now has some similarities to what we ran last year. This offense, we're running now is more similar to a Tommy Rees offense than it is to Washington's the last few seasons. It's gonna be a tough game on both sides of the ball.
