Burrow and Bennett killed us with their legs. I could see calling them that... but not Coker

Burrow ran for a total of 368 yards his last year. he wasn't a statue, and could get out of trouble, but he certainly was not a dual threat QB.

I thought if we got 2 scores ahead at any point we would win , and that's what happened. Aside from their opening drive there wasn't really a cheek clinching threat. We stayed a step ahead by getting multiple 2 score leads and winning the line of scrimmage. Honestly if we had gotten just 1 or 2 of those missed INTs, it well could have been a blow out.

Make no mistake about it-- despite the final stat sheet and final score, Bama outplayed them rather considerably.

We led them for almost 75% of the game.

To be fair, they're lucky it was only 3 points, because we missed out on 3 very close interceptions.

It was a masterful performance in both coaching and execution by the team.

And although I know GA came from behind in several games this year, I think we were the first team they got behind this year where the truly questioned whether they had what it took to come back in the end.

Our O-line mauled their defensive front for a good portion of the game, and our D-line really took it to their offense and Beck.

IIRC every play is reviewed in real time by the SEC, they stop play only if they need more time to look at a play.

I also believe if they did an extended review they might have overturned it - they've reviewed and missed some pretty obvious calls this year (such as Burton / abuurn), so I'd rather not put it in their hands.

Someone (me) posted in the game thread that they needed to hurry and snap.

Okay, about the Bond catch... I'm glad they didn't review it. I've watched it a bunch and here's what I saw... He never lost control of the ball, but it could have been construed as being because the ground was helping him control it. If the officials saw it this way it might have been overturned. Again, I'm really glad they didn't stop to take an extended look at it because I have little faith that they'd have called it our way (see: Burton on the sideline).

I am aware that the SEC says it was reviewed on the fly. UGa folks are taking that report with a rather large grain of salt.

I also agree that I don't think it would have automatically meant a 7-point swing in the final score, either. Bama went a bit conservative with the lead, and they might have kept the pedal down if we had still been behind (or up by a smaller margin... whatever it would have been at that point).

It blows my mind that so many people seem to love replay and arguing over every single play. Personally, all those stoppages ruin the flow of the game, and they still don't get it right half the time. I wish they would give coaches two challenges per game and let the game move on.

Precisely why I watched with no volume…it was game changing. Legit, my frustration meter was sooo much lower, even in such an intense game, just by blocking those clowns out…y’all need to try it!!!

I have lower BP if I don't listen to Gary Danielson.
He always manages to get on my last nerve.
So...
I turn the volume off on the TV and listen to the radio broadcast on FM.

You’re right, and I had already deleted my post.

There is a famous quote during a ball game that I knew wasn’t Verne, even though common memory is that it was Verne. For a moment, I had a brain cramp and thought that it was the “this ain’t Kentucky” quote.

But now I remember that the other quote I’m thinking about was the “What’s Britney doing these days?” quote

Maybe Vern Lunquists' most famous quote (at least to Bama fans).

I personally thought Vern was one of the best play callers in that era. No Keith Jackson, because he was in a category to himself, but Vern was very, very good (when he could keep his names straight).
