Rees couldn't do anything with him either.

The point is that JM really handicapped our offense, no matter who the OC is...
Rees got more out of him from a consistency standpoint than Sheridan did. From a turnover standpoint also.

The difference between 12-2, SEC Champs, and the crap we had to endure this year is daylight and dark. I don’t know what else to say.

We just got lucky bounces (or inept opponents) in 23. It literally took a once in a 100 year play against the most baffling defensive call I have ever seen to win against AU.

Lose that and we are 10-2, and not going to the SEC and probably lay an egg in a bowl game and end up 10-3. Not really all that different.

I know what to say.....I'd take Sheridan with a new QB if we had to.

Good news....we got Grubb.

Good news for Grubb....he doesn't have Milroe as his QB.

Bad news for Sheridan....he had Milroe as his QB.

I don’t disagree about the lucky play against AU.

However, we were still locked in to play UGA for the SEC Title.

More good news...Grubb will have a new QB to work with.

Don't forget...Grubb recruited Mack to UW.

Grubb wasnt going to coach Milroe under any circumstances whether for Saban or Deboer.
That is an interesting point. Maybe Grubb accepted the Alabama job, at least in principle, then saw film and sensed anybody coaching Milroe as OC was going to damage his reputation by the association, so Grubb stayed at UW (when Saban offered)/accepted the Seahawks job (when DeBoer offered) as an alternative to going down when the USS Milroe inevitably sank.
Just speculating. Anyway, glad he is now in Tuscaloosa. Coach DeBoer seems more comfortable with Grubb around him.

Or possibly he got wind of the “lank, keep the team from portalling, contract” and wanted nothing to do with that?

It begs the question of if he was working on what he needed to work on, or if he was working on things that maybe didn't help him address the areas he needed to grow. We heard all the time he was the first one in the weight room every day. Maybe he should have taken some of that weight room time and worked on other things.
YEP! I remember hearing JM mock someone who asked if he needed to "work on his rushing game" (implying he needed to improve). What's ironic is he was actually terrible at rushing the football. He could get tackled by a shoe-string, which made me think of seeing running backs do those drills where they go thru the ropes and learn to pick up their feet. Apparently, JM was never required to do that or thought he should.

And don't get me started on "self awareness." JM, concerning his football abilities had none. He thought he was a great passer and even the thing he did best (chuck it downfield) was really just average. Remember when Auburn did the most stupid thing that allowed JM to complete the "Gravedigger" to beat Auburn and he ran around yelling "Give me the ________ Heisman." Yeah, he didn't know or work on what he should have!

I think you're involved in a debate that's not being had.
You win the debate, ironically.

Come on man. The G.O.A.T had to work magic to get that team to 10-2.

Last year, in his first year at Bama, CKD had the weight of the world on him and not nearly the talent after the portal exodus. Plus, he had to deal with the LANK crap.

JM performed about the same for both seasons. And remember that we were just a handful of plays from 4-5 losses that 10-2 year. It was probably CNS best coaching of his career to get us that far.

Again, no one is saying Sheridan is getting hosed and shouldn't because he's "great." I perplexed this is where this thread has gone.

This thread should be celebrating Grubb's hire instead of contemplating last years mediocrity.
