I don't know what all they have coming back. If they have losses on the lines, can they plug and play? Stidham will make them formidable no matter what. And just look around at the rest of the division. We will reload as always. LSU? A total crapshoot. Texas A&M? A new coach. Arkansas? Sucks and is hiring a new coach. Mississippi State? A new coach. Ole Miss? LOLOLOL.

I'm not sure who they play out of conference, but I only count 2 likely losses, and that's us and Georgia on the road. They've got LSU at home next year.

LOL @ the 8-5 predictions - when will you people learn? Every time people predict auburn to be 'meh' they perform well.

I personally think they'll be pretty good as Stidham will be back and he's developed into a good QB...
Most years Gussie and the barns have been down has been due to not having a good enough quarterback to make the offense go. They have that coming back next season. I just wonder if they will have the RB's AND OL returning to make the offense go? During the SECCG I remember Danielson (when talking about the Auburn OL) mentioning the seniors.

I actually think they’ll be pretty dang good next year too. Stidham developed nicely as the year went on and they are recruiting quite well. Gus will always be a threat to beat us in jhs but I seriously doubt that he does better than .500 against us while Saban is here.

Key for them with their OL losses will be protecting Stidham.

Georgia made him look as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs in the second half of the SECCG.

The scounting report on Stidham for the IB was if you get pressure in his face he's not good. Georgia proved that.

Admittedly, this is true with most good/great QBs, but he looked fairly average in the second half against Georgia because of the pressure they applied.

If the Barn OL takes a step backwards next year, they'll make a difference.

Re: Gus 7 years 49 million. Lol

Checked the Auburn depth chart (dated 11/14). Some notes:

1. Does Kerryon leave? Anything left for him to prove?

2. All but left guard will be replacing a starter. Center and right guard are replacing both guys on the two-deep.

3. How many guys in the secondary are gone? Tray Matthews (starter), Nick Ruffin, Stephen Roberts (starter) and Jason Smith are all gone. Does Carlton Davis leave?

4. Biggest question - how many guys leave early? Look at the guys that could go if they want - Jarrett Stidham, Kerryon Johnson, Ryan Davis, Jeff Holland, Dontavius Russell, Deshaun Davis, Montavious Atkinson, and Carlton Davis.

As long as the guys listed above return, Auburn should do well. If some of those guys head to the league, Gus might have some issues.

After the abuse he endured over the last two games, I would advise Kerryon to leave. Why risk an injury that could jeopardize a multi million dollar pro contract?

I checked their schedule and they are opening with Washington in Atlanta.

I have no clue what the Huskies have coming back but I expect that to be a tough game. Other than that, it's really just us and Georgia on the road that they have to worry about.

LSU and Texas A&M could pose issues depending on how Coach O continues to develop and how Coach Fisher gets things going in his first year, but both those games are at Jordan-Hare. Their other East division opponent is Tennessee, who has yet to find a HC. All in all, Auburn will play 4 conference opponents with first year coaches. Same as us.

Nor does it have any material impact on next season.
No doubt, just saying that may be why folks think that. I do not know enough about their depth, which is always key yr to yr. When guys graduate or leave early you have to plug and play to stay good. College football is notorious for drop offs when a lot of the core team leaves for what ever reason. That has always been a challenge to college coaches. Stocking up on talent so you can maintain a level of play. I just know that many teams can hit the jack pot on talent and play one year a drop off pretty hard the next. Nothing is a sure thing, but the history of teams sometimes shows patterns of a staff and recruiting. I now this much, never say for sure good or bad, teams always shock me year to year.

Who are the people down there backing that kind of a commitment? Lowder doesn't own a bank anymore. Rane has got sell LOT of treated wood to cover that. Now I know why JHS hasn't been expanded/upgraded all these years.

Stidham is really interesting. Against us he looked ready for the league. Against UGA in the SECCG not nearly so much. He's a hired gun so he may at least test the waters.

Re: Gus 7 years 49 million. Lol

I think they could be a 10-2 team...losses at UGA and Bama.
9-3 is what I figured. They drop a game early to Washington (assuming Browning comes back, minor miracle they went 10-2 this year given their injury problems) but get back into a control-your-own-destiny scenario in November then drop both against UGA and Bama on the road. 9-3 is not a bad season either. Realistically could only have losses to the Pac-12 champ and the two SECCG participants.

I think this was their window and Gus blew it by playing a tailback less than 50% over a mostly health backup tailback in the SECCG.

You could have stopped right there.

Name me one team in the history of the SEC that has won 10 games with only one returning starter on the O-Line.

Auburn needs a Jon Allen type returning senior but those are really rare. You usually bet on your best juniors to go pro if they get a 1st or 2nd round grade these days. Gotta wait and see but I suspect that they're losing a lot of DL depth, Kerryon Johnson is 100% gone given his injury, etc.

Gus (and "SHUT UP GUS" Kristi) just got PAID, so whether next season works out or not Gus is still a winner. Auburn and their fans will be the ones with a problem on their hands.

Lose the SEC Championship by 3 touchdowns and get a 7 million a year contract for 7 years? Must be nice...

If I were Kerryon I would carry my talents onto the NFL.

Re: Gus 7 years 49 million. Lol

So a Aub win over Bama is worth 7 million a year to aubs. Man they must be printing money over at the cow college LOL. He beat Bama 2 times in 5 yrs, wow I got to find me an aubie job. I got 5 bucks that says as usual aubs cannot back up a 10 win season with 10 wins.Tubberville did it one time, no other time has auburn had back to back 10 win seasons. Boy they do have low expectations at the barn. I would think you get back to back ten win seasons before paying 7 million a yr for 7 yrs.
It seems to be worth that much to others like Sumlin. But it's no guarantee he'll be around for 7 years if he doesn't produce. :)
