WASHINGTON/BAGHDAD, Nov 9 (Reuters) - A defective drone in Iraq may have helped keep America from being dragged deeper into a widening Middle East conflict.

The drone, which was launched at the Erbil air base by an Iranian-backed militia before sunrise on Oct. 26, penetrated U.S. air defenses and crashed into the second floor of the barracks housing American troops at about 5 a.m, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

But the device laden with explosives failed to detonate and in the end only one service member suffered a concussion from the impact, said the officials, who asked to remain anonymous to speak freely about the attack. The U.S. had got lucky, they added, as the drone could have caused carnage had it exploded.
Thank you for the updates!

I was going to reply as crimsonaudio did. I don't think Israel allows same sex marriage as such but they don't have laws calling for punishment of anyone in the LGBTQ community. There are definitely Jews who abhor them and preach against it but definitely not all. It would be illegal for anyone to persecute anyone.
Oh yes, Israel is a pretty tolerant place. The other night, Bill Maher made a HELL of a good point when he said that Israel is the singular outpost of Western Civilization in that area and as such, should be protected. I disagree with Bill often, but he knocked that one out of the park.

If you're wondering where the funds are going that are supposed to be helping the Palestinians in Gaza.......and elsewhere......

While the people of Gaza are struggling for food, water and medical care, Hamas’ wealthy leadership lives luxuriously in Qatar, according to Israeli officials. Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler, senior director at the Counter Extremism Project, joins "Dan Abrams Live" to discuss Hamas' streams of income and whether it can be cut off.

They do allow some legal rights to same-sex unions. Same-sex activities are not illegal, either. It should be noted that Israel has no civil marriages, unless both parties are not a member of any recognized religious sect, only religious weddings. They do honor same-sex marriages performed in a country which allows them, so a lot of gay people simply leave the country to get married. They are by far the most liberal ME country when it comes to LGBT rights...

Which baffles me to see LGBT groups holding up pro-Palestian (or esp. Hamas) signs.

It all traces back to critical theory. There is an oppressor and an oppressed in every unequal situation. It is systemic in nature and the oppressed are always seen as right, and the oppressor must be removed or destroyed.

Most don't know that Bibi has made a "deal with the devil," with Hamas, sort of "we won't bother your rule of Gaza, if you don't bother us." Well, Hamas exploded that big time and Bibi now has his political future (and jail for corruption) at stake, hence the almost unexplainable (otherwise) destruction in Gaza. Stupid, stupid move on their part...
I believe this description is too generous. I believe Netenyahu, in league with the right wing who covet the Gaza territory, cynically allied with Hamas to split the Palestinians between Hamas and the PLO. Ostensibly the strategy was to divide and conquer but I'm not sure if this isn't a kind of bizarre false-flag attack to allow BN to remain in power and even consolidate it.

The right wing should have paid a steep price for the murder of Rabin. The Israeli people are paying, instead.

Some people don’t have the mental dexterity to examine “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” from several angles to understand it can’t be a blanket application in all instances.
Stupid exists in every group of people on the planet, in varying degrees, no matter what criteria they are brought together by.

Yep. It's an offshoot of Marxism. It takes Marx's economic analysis and applies the critique to politics and society. Every relationship is one of conflict - between races, genders, social classes, employer/employee, etc. Not to say there is no conflict, but these types of theories are simplistic and, as a standard, are just plain wrong. And in many cases, conflict is desirable (e.g., competition among businesses). Almost all interactions people have are one of cooperation, not conflict. For (totally not) Marxists to view everything as racist or misogynistic or homophobic or transphobic or whatever is ignorant and disingenuous at best and dangerous and evil at worst.

U.S. Confirms Hamas Command Center Under Al-Shifa Hospital. A U.S. intelligence official confirmed that Israel's claim about a Hamas command and operations center located under the Al-Shifa Medical Center in Gaza City is accurate. Additionally, it was noted that Hamas fighters frequently siphon off fuel from the hospital's generator tanks and often assembled and operated around the hospital, using the facility and its patients as human shields. The next time someone shows "Israel striking a hospital," maybe folks will be a little skeptical.
A "ceasefire with Hamas now" is in the moral neighborhood of demanding a ceasefire with the Nazis in March 1945.
"Oh my gosh! The Allies have hit a hospital! We must demand a ceasefire and leave the National Socialist regime in control of Germany! It's the only moral thing to do!" is a morally vapid statement.

GAZA — As reports began to come out that Israeli Defense Forces had discovered a Hamas weapons depot hidden in a Gaza children's hospital, a spokesman for Hamas was adamant that all of the AK-47s found in the hospital were for medicinal use only.

"These were clearly medical machine guns," said Ali Mohammed Al Mohammed. "By confiscating these weapons, they are depriving sick children of the life-saving medical care that these rifles, rockets, and bombs provide. Only people who are truly heartless would take these weapons away from children who are ill. Death to Israel, thank you."
Parody article, but had me rolling.
