Did any of you see Colt's interview after the game? First words out of his mouth are congratulations to your team. He made no excuses...said God has a plan and He's still on the rock. You can't honestly believe his going out of the game didn't make a difference. We were within 3 points with a few minutes left in the game (with an 18 year old leading the team). The score is definitely not indicative of the game. You did win because you did take advantage of turnovers, like a good team will. We just don't understand your fan base attitude...you act like you crushed us. We are proud of our team for not giving up and fighting to the end. Can't see why some of you can't see that. Has Saban or any of your team given us any kind of congrats? Mack always says that first thing...gives the other team some congrats on a good game...he's first class all the way. Congratulations on winning...great teams take advantage of opportunities.
No, great teams create opportunities. You can't understand the attitude of our fanbase? What attitude? Refusing to put an asterisk next to our title? I'm sorry, but all but a few texas fans have come over hear expecting us to tell them, 'boy we sure are lucky Colt got knocked out, we were about to get steamrolled!'. Now, just about everybody on this board has said congrats texas, great effort. Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of all the "yeah you won, BUT..." coming from the texas fans. Only losers make excuses, take the loss, drop the buts, and move on. Have a great 2010 season.

Sorry for the rant.

Don't come here whining about what might have been. It is simple. Our team whipped your team ... clearly ... decisively and completely. And we didn't need a magical extra second to do it either.

I am sorry Colt was injured and could not play, but only for him. I think he is a class guy and earned all of the praise he has received. But the fact remains that he could not withstand a legal straight-up hit delivered by an SEC defense ... the best defense in the country. If not in the first possession, he would have run again and eventually, someone else would have caught him in open territory ... it was going to happen. Don't run skinny boys against the SEC with inadequate blockers.

Be glad for a defensive down year in your conference ... at least you got to go to Pasadena.

Proudhorn, you have seriously got to be kidding. Coach Saban and every player that was interviewed after the game congratulated Texas on playing a fine game. Coach Saban even mentioned McCoy's injury to Coach Brown at midfield after the game and told him to tell McCoy he asked after him and wished him well. Every single player interviewed gave props to your team for playing hard and having a chance to win it with under 4 minutes left in the game. Marcel Dareus, in his post-game interview, commented that he hoped McCoy would be okay and that it took him a couple of plays to realize McCoy was out hurt from that hit.

Your fanbase needs to open its eyes just a smidge and recognize that the overwhelming majority of Alabama fans believe what we witnessed was a game played between two fine, talented, well-coached teams. It was a game where the team that won was the team that was able to best take advantage of turnovers and position mismatches. It was a game where, as I've said before, it's a shame there has to be a loser because every player on the field was worthy of a championship.

Our team outplayed and outlasted your team. That doesn't take away one bit from your team's talent or heart. The future of Texas football is bright. BUT part of being a champion is knowing how to lose gracefully. Colt McCoy knows how to do that. His statement after the game was classy and he is a fine young man. There are those in your fanbase, however, that need to learn the lesson of how to lose with dignity. We Crimson Tide fans have learned that lesson the hard way, after decades on top of the college football world, we have been through heck and bitter disappointment. Now, the ship has been righted and we are on a good path once again. I'd like to think we remember how to win with dignity. I think many of us do. Certainly there are those among us who do not, but hopefully they will learn quickly.

So, from me to you, congratulations on your team playing their hearts out and leaving it all on the field. You have a lot to be proud of regarding your favorite team. I would like to think you have similar sentiments towards us.

Here's how I parse your entire post after reading the first four or so sentences:
"Did any of you see Colt's interview after the game? First words out of his mouth are congratulations to your team. He made no excuses...said God has a plan and He's still on the rock. With that in mind, I will now proceed to equivocate about the game and make excuses on his behalf."
Please feel free to point out how this is wrong.

Let me say this as well. Of all people, Lou Holtz made a pretty darn good observation about McCoy's injury. He said that every coach knows that any player on the field is one play away from being injured, and therefore MUST have backup players READY to perform. He pointed out that it was obvious that the Texas back up QB was NOT ready to play in this game, and therefore made the mistakes that led to the huge deficit at the half.
Say what you want but ol Lou makes sense on this one. Is it Bama's fault that Brown didn't have his back up QB ready to play??

Bama had the Heisman Trophy winner, a tailback who is probably the best running back in America. How would it have affected the outcome if Ingram had've been injured? It wouldn't have. Because Coach Saban had a kid named Richardson who was READY to step in without costing the team a step.

As a matter of fact, when Ingram needed a breather, Richardson stepped on the field a busted a TD right off the bat.

It's called depth in key positions. Bama had it. Texas didn't.

I think Texas is an outstanding team and had a great year. I congratulate all Texas fans for being the third best team in the country behind Bama and Florida, and I wish you the best next season.

sip

I was quite impressed by the young freshman QB. He never once showed any quit. He just kept listening to his coaches and playing the next play.

He done good for a young man that was less than a full year removed from highschool ball.

I think it relevant at this point to remember something Greg McElroy said earlier this year when asked about being a backup for so long. He said something to the effect that his greatest fear was not being ready when the opportunity presented it.
