How Does AL A BAM A Match Up Against UT(e)?

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

What do yo see as our strengths and weaknesses?

I think it will be a high scoring game. Our offense can put up a lot of points and the Vols defense is not very good. On the flip side, Tennessee has a potent offense that COULD really make our defense look bad.

Ty and our passing game are essential to our success. They needed to be successful to loosen up the defense to allow us torun just enough to sustain drives and keep the chains moving. Right now we are playing pretty good complimentary football.

Their offense is really really annoying. I absolute hate watching it and I hate playing against it. Those wide splits are the ugliest thing in the world. I don't really no what to expect from our defense in this one but I do assume they're going to break some big plays in the run game. Their top 2 RBs are averaging 7.6 and 5.3 yards a carry which is a bit scary for us. Their QB does turn the ball over a decent amount though.

Their pass D is terrible. I think I saw that it's the worst in the SEC. So, Ty should have a big game and we should put up points.

Who is the officiating crew?🤔

Really shouldn't matter, but the last several years...it does!

Since we had Autrey this past weekend, would it be safe to assume that he won't be there?

Williamson would be the second worst! 😖

Home crowd (i.e. no noise on offense) should help offense to throw the ball and cover up missing Miller; thus, issues with the running game.

Can't be Autrey, so thats good. But could be the UGA-Auburn crew maybe? Or the Gomer Pyle crew?

2nd to last in the conference in yards/game allowed
Next to last in the conference in points/game allowed
Last in the conference in pass yards/game allowed

And that is against:
Syracuse (strong throwing the ball)
ETSU (terrible throwing the ball)
Georgia (not very good throwing the ball)
UAB (pretty good throwing the ball)
Miss State (terrible throwing the ball)
Arkansas (pretty strong throwing the ball)

Assuming Jam will not be playing is huge. He just seems to make our running game decent enough to compliment Ty’s passing ability. Now Ty will be required to use his legs more. If we had Jam I’d feel really good about this game. The D needs to bring it big time.

I like our chances. Our DBs are capable of running with their WRs (just cannot stand there flat footed while they run by). We need to put pressure on Aguilar. Bama LBs must maintain gap integrity (seem to be getting better with this each game).
Offense should shred Vols through the air. They have injuries and backups are struggling. Our OL should be able to give Ty time to throw. We must get better with our red zone offense

What is UT’s pass rush like? Because if Formby starts at RT that could be a problem again. I’ve seen statues move faster than Formby.
I'd send Formby to the lockerroom five minutes before kickoff to get a playsheet that doesn't exist and tell him not to come back unless he has it.

We're currently #8 in the nation in red zone efficiency.
28 attempts
20 TDs
7 FGs
(points on 27 of 28 trips to the red zone -- 96.4%)

UT's defensive line is good enough to give us fits if the O-line isn't playing its best ball. Losing Jam hurts not just from the yards he could get on the ground against these guys, but also his pass-pro. If UT doesn't believe we are honestly trying to run the football, then bye-bye play-action. I look for UT to sell out and try to blitz us on most downs. If we don't have an answer for that (and it has been a struggle) we might be in trouble.

If we are able to contain their pass rush, my next questions is this: will we continue playing ball-control or will CKD unbottle the offense and let them go nuts out there? I suspect it will be the former because UT can still score a lot of points in a very short period of time. Keeping their O on the sideline will certainly benefit our D.

I don’t think we have any other choice but to throw the ball. Without Miller, our running game is not good enough to control the clock.
