Mac is a far better passer than Jalen. Nowhere in the same galaxy as a runner.

He can stand toe-to-toe with Tua in long-ball accuracy. He dimed Both Mizzou and aTm several times.

He’s not as accurate in short-to-medium range as Tua. No shame there. The fact that he’s not the GOAT doesn’t mean he’s not still dang good.

Not the runner Tua is. But makes better decisions on killing the play.

Is learning some tough lessons on interceptions. Two passes batted at the line yesterday, one of which was intercepted and led directly to a TD. Unlucky 100-yard+ pick-6 against the barn last year. Another pick-six against the barn on what I’m sure he himself would characterize as a bad throw.

Thing is, Mac learns, he leads by example, and he’s won the team. While the OL has done a fine job in pass protection, Mac has taken a couple of big hits after letting go of the pass, and he’s popped right up. He’s a tough cookie.

Haven’t heard a peep about Bryce Young being starter by mid-season in a while. I’m doubting you’ll find anybody today who will admit to advocating that just a couple of weeks ago. Lord, that was so incredibly over-hyped.

Young is super-talented, and will be fine. But he’s nowhere near ready to displace a 4th year junior who is not slouch in the talent department himself. One day, Young will be there. Absent injury to Mac, 2020 does not contain that day.

If Mac keeps putting up number like Saturday and the team keeps winning, he will be NFL bound and then Young will get his shot next year. Seems all the "game manager" talk has died down even with the idiot talking heads. I only saw 2 people make negative comments. One was clearly a clempson fan, since he mentioned 44-16 four times. The other clearly didn't understand football at all and was ripped a part by other commentors.

I've been a huge supporter of Mac for a while and touted how great he was going to be since the AU and MIch games last season.

He is incredibly smart with a high Football IQ and for the most part makes great split second decisions.

His deep ball is just insanely accurate already. I would say he's 2nd only to Tua on accuracy but honestly it's shockingly close either way.

He's wicked TOUGH too. He will stay in the pocket until the absolute last minute knowing he's about to get blasted by a defender just to make sure a Play develops on time and will then Rifle a complete pass, take the HIT, and POP right back up like it was nothing.

I'll also say he's the BEST I've seen for Bama when it comes to 'Pocket Presence'. His ability to effortlessly slide around in the Pocket when he senses pressure is next level elite....

It's almost Tom Brady like really. A DL or LB will get almost immediate pressure at time and Mac will almost Float or Slither up and away from it and then hop/step into the throw right on time for an absolute DIME to the WR.

To compare him to others I would say he has Coker's Toughness, McElroy's IQ, Sims Coachability, AJ's Confidence/Arm, Hurt's Respect from others, and Tua's Accuracy and Footwork.

That's a HELLUVA QB Recipe right there.

He has complete command of the Offense, the complete support of the team and staff, and has positioned himself to lead the way to both Team and Personal success.

I still can't believe there was a strong belief from some that his job was in any way in jeopardy.

This is Mac's team 100%.

Mac is playing at a very high level, making great reads and showing very accuracy. He's not a game manager.

I think the "game manager" tag is often viewed as a negative term, but it really isnt if you have "game breaking" abilities. Jake Fromm is a game manager, but he isnt going to come back from a two score deficit and beat a Joe Burrows. Had we beaten Auburn I think LSU wouldnt be a shoe-in for a national championship. Whether they outlasted us or not, they were not shutting down Mac like they did Fromm.

I saw this Breakdown of Mac's throws vs Texas A&M and Missouri elsewhere and thought I'd share....

Behind LOS
12/12
74 Yds
0 TD / 0 INT

0-10 Yds Downfield
11/14
113 Yds
0 TD / 1 INT

10-20 Yds Downfield
8/11
131 Yds
2 TD / 0 INT

20+ Yds Downfield
7/12
366 Yds
4 TD / 0 INT

He's not throwing the RPO Slant like Tua since it's not being called but you can't say Mac isn't ridiculously accurate at all levels right now.

The throws 10 or more yards are especially eye popping...

15/23 for 497 yards 6 TD's and 0 INT's

Here's a few fun ones.....

Mac is probably the most under-appreciated QB in college football right now. The fans, including me, thought Mac was plenty good for keeping the seat warm until the young hotshot was ready, perhaps as soon as the first game. But the way Mac is playing right now, who in college football today would you replace him with? The numbers speak for themselves, and they are spectacular.

It will be Najee's turn on Saturday, and Mac wont have such a big day. I mean, look at the tape! The next team is going to try 2-deep with 7 in the box. Good luck with that, too.

Mac’s deep ball is fun to watch. It drops at the last moment. Several times it’s looked like he overthrew his WR just for the ball to drop down right into their hands.
Matter if fact I shouted "he overthrough him!" to my son just as the ball landed in Metchie's hands for the first score.

It's crazy to consider but BY could play in every game this year, play in 4 games next year and in 2022 still have four years to play, theoretically. I doubt it'll happen that way though.

If MJ keeps playing at this level, he'd be able to go into the draft and be playing in the NFL next year.

I am trying to temper my enthusiasm about the team and Mac but we know a team that can run the ball well and take the top off of the defense when they play to stop the run is very hard to beat.
I think that is a smart move and I'm doing it as well and here's why I think that:

1. Missouri got throttled by Tennessee so our offense throttling Missouri is like bragging about hooking up with the girl at school who doesn't turn anybody down. Really not a big accomplishment.

2. The fact that Jimbo allowed his coaching staff to stubbornly stop the run the entire game while getting carved up Silence of the Lamb style through the air causes me to temper my excitement about the offense. That's why you don't guarantee a coach $75 million of a contract. He can do stupid stuff like that and not give a damn about the consequences.

If we carve up Georgia the same way I will remove all restraints of my excitement about the offense.

Exactly! My estimation of Jimbo as an coach sank even further. It's insane to keep walking up your corners and safeties on a QB who can kill you with an accurate deep ball. IDK why, given the film on Mac, that they kept defensing Harris...
I was texting a good friend of mine who is an aTm alum and passionate football fan. I asked him how many more 75+ yard touchdown passes is Jones going to have to throw before Jimbo moves his safeties back. He never responded. My guess is he knocked several holes in his wall.

Gary Danielson is right in observing "safeties" don't play safe anymore...at least in this game they didn't.

I was utterly floored. It was like giving us the game. But you could tell it was coming from the coaching staff rather than a player or players being out of position. That's just what they decided they were going to do. At that point is like a Jones and the WR's having a passing session against air, kind of hard not to score. I just don't think we'll see UGA or Clemson do stupid stuff like that.

FWIW, it costs you nothing to be excited. Have fun with it.

Totally agree. I do feel that MJ at 6'3" does have more opportunity to see the field well when he has a fairly clean pocket. In the Auburn game last year he made a late throw to Ruggs for around thirty yards on a rope that very few Alabama QB'S would make. Of course there were the two mistakes that cost the game but with experience he has a chance to put together a tremendous season. With this season's all SEC gauntlet it is going to be an amazing feat for any team to go 10-0.

Clearly they decided that Mac couldn't beat you in the air if they took away Najee. And then they refused to believe what they were seeing, probably because of the interception, and kept playing that way.

Mac showed us he was good last season. He's been even more impressive to start this season in some ways. Helps having these WRs but he's been playing mostly lights out.

Idk if he's as good as Tua but he's going to have a chance to prove us all wrong. It's nice to know we have a QB and offense that can score with anyone again. My worry is the defense.
