In what order would you list these six one-loss Alabama teams in terms of their dominance, one through six:

the 2016 loss bugs me the most. clempson ran pick plays multiple times including the game winner. I believe we knew the refs would be from the big 12 and it was known by the clempson coaching staff that they were very loose with OPI calls. That could just be a rumor.
I have no proof other then the tape of the game, but it was VERY OBVIOUS on that last play.
To be fair we should of got one more stop. I still think that was the best Bama team to not win a ring..

You missed one and it was a BIGGIE!

1973 was Bryant's GREATEST TEAM who lost to ND in the Sugar Bowl by 1 point for the true National Championship.

We were National Champions in the UPI Poll, but Notre Dame won the MacArthur Trophy as the true number 1 team in the AP.

As a child, I saw that team dominate like no other, until ND.
What are your thoughts on who was better between 73 and the 78 or 79 teams?

As great as the 78 and 79 teams were, I think the 73 team was superior to me because as a kid, this was the first Bama team I followed intensely. So, I am blinded by that when you come down to it. I will still try and make a case for it LOL...

The wishbone was working on all cylinders and it contained the great Wilbur Jackson, Willie Shelby and Calvin Culliver. OL Sylvester Croom & Buddy Brown. Quarterbacks Gary Rutledge & Richard Todd. Tight end George Pugh. Wide Recievers Wayne Wheeler & Johnny Sharpless.

On Defense John Croyle, Woodrow Lowe, Mike Raines & Mike DuBose...

They set multiple offensive NCAA records in a game against VPI/Virginia Tech. We beat that Don Strock led VPI team 77-6. Not even mentioning a 66-0 defeat of a Steve Bartkowski led California team.

The 1973 team totally dominated the opposition. There were a few tight scores in the SEC with LSU and Georgia, but we were never truly challenged. Then came Notre Dame. We should have won it, but shoulda, woulda, coulda doesn't win Championships!

Your question is a great one, but in retrospect, seeing the Tide dominate so fiercely against the competition that year tugs on my emotions as a 12 year old back then.

I am sure you could also easily make a case for 78 & 79 as the best of the Bryant led Championship teams. So many great memories in those 2 seasons. The 78/79 Goal Line Stand and Penn State. The perfect season of 1979/80.

Let's not forget 1966! That was before my time, but we got ripped off that year!

All 3 teams were great.

66 the missing ring team. One of the great mysteries in sport . ESPN should do a 30 for 30 on that not the tie with MSU and ND. 78/79 I always remembered the play leading to the goal line stand. I think it was Don McNeil who knocked himself out keeping the kid Guman out of the endzone setting the stage for Lyons, Krauss and company to put up the brick wall. Roll Tide Roll
