Hey Wuhpah that was kind of rude!

I'm simply pointing out that I pretty much hate anyhting having to do with Tennessee these days and an 11:00 a.m. kick-off sucks. If I don't go its not because I'll be at home with my bottle! its because I'll have to take an extra day off work, and I'll have to spend an extra days money on hotel fees, and coming on the heels of Christmas spending, and the 5 birthdays in my family right around now, money is a much greater issue. I never actually thought the Peach Bowl would take us unless we won a 7th game, but I was hoping anyway because money wise it would be great for me since its at night and I live in Atlanta.

At the very least get the spelling correct. As for the " bottle" reference, please refer to your earlier post. :biga:

independence has a later kickoff and gambling if that is something you like to do, weekday game would cost two days of work.

music city probably has a better atmosphere but i hate going to do anything in tennesee except for memphis(it kicks azz, should swap the liberty for independence), cant see how music city pays out so much less than independence bowl and that they have more prestige seeing that they have only been around for about eight years, even though the independence bowl is nothing to special.

But now I get it, its because you live in Tennessee, so of course you'd rather have the bowl game there, well I live in Atlanta and would rather play in the Peach Bowl, but you don't see me acting like a jerk about it. By the way exactly how much of your money have you spent going to away game, thinking that you have the right to call others out? Because over the past few years I've spent my money going to Miami for the Orange Bowl, to Pasadena against UCLA, to Hawaii for both game and to Norman for the OU game, so unless your putting your money where your mouth is get off my butt.

Hey Bill, yeah I'm at my parents and my mom has her name and pass word saved and its just easier to post under her name then to change it to lnadell, and then have to have her change it back again later. I actually posted that its lnadell and not LTBF on several other threads but I didn't on this one, because I thought I was making a simple humorous comment, about our fans not wanting to give any of their money to the state of Tennessee and the fact that tailgaters will have to get an early jump for a 11:00 game, but apparently the humor went over the heads of some on this board.

I'm a Bama fan but I was born and raised in Nashville until I moved to Tusacaloosa about 4 months ago. Does that mean you hate me too? Personally, I wanted a trip back home. I can see my family and friends as well as go to the game. Also, I guess you never heard of the 3 states of Tennessee. With UT in East Tennessee, I consider that another place entirely. I really hate that part of the state and wish they would give it back to North Carolina.

Since this thread has degenerated into a comparison between Shreveport and Nashville (and there is no real comparison), I have not seen any mention as to what criteria the SEC or UA would use to determine which bowl to attend.

How big of a factor does the possible opponent play into the decision about which bowl to go to? If we go to the Independence, Colorado, Texas Tech, and Iowa State are possible opponents. In this Music City Bowl, we get either Northwestern or Minnesota (Michigan State to my knowledge will finish no better than 6-6 and I believe the 6-6 waiver only applies to Iowa State should they win the Big XII North).

Personally, I'd like to play a Big Ten school. And there is nothing wrong with people selfishly rooting for one bowl over another. As I have said in my previous post, I've been to both bowl games before and I prefer Nashville. For me personally, the money, travel time, kickoff, or the city doesn't matter in the end because I intend to be there no matter what. Being a student and the bowl season being over Christmas break definitely gives me an advantage over others because I won't have to take days off from work or pay for a family trip.

I hardly think any of our fans are going to sit there and be genuinely displeased with going to any bowl after missing out the last 2 years. There is a huge difference between preferring one bowl over another and outright bad-mouthing a bowl. As was pointed out, the Independence Bowl was nice enough to choose us back in '01 despite the fact Ole Miss defeated us head-to-head.

To even hint that since the Peach Bowl is more coveted than the Music City, thus that outright implies Atlanta is better than Nashville is not the way this whole thing works. I understand there may be a little humor involved in making that analogy but it's actually a little absurd. That would imply that while Tempe, Arizona has a BCS Bowl (Fiesta Bowl), then that means Tempe/Phoenix is a preferred destination spot over Tampa or Orlando. I doubt many would choose Tempe over Orlando.

Bottom line, we're going bowling. I seem to recall after Brodie went down against Western Carolina, roughly 50% of the people on this board didn't think we'd make it this far. Now, here we are.

We should be extremely happy to be going anywhere and I'm sure we will take the Music City or the Independence Bowl and be happy. We have only won 10 games in 2 years, and we have only beaten one team with a winning record this year and they probably won't finish with a winning record. We have our tradition and a good defense, but we also have a 3rd string backfield and a coach who has yet to beat anybody decent. I think we are on our way back and either bowl could be used as a launching pad for next year. However, with all of that said, I want us to go to the Music City Bowl because I have already purchased tickets. Roll Tide!

First of all everygame is an away game for me. I attend 3-4 games @ BDS and @ least 1 road game per year. I was @ Norman 2 years ago, Knoxville and Lexington this year. I will admit that my bowl resume is a bit weaker. I was at the Citrus in '95, Outback in '96, and the Music City in '98. I hereby extend a olive branch to you. We are on the same side. I am probably being a little selfish as I cannot attend the Ind. bowl. Roll Tide and Happy Holidays. :biga:

Wahpuh, I accept your olive branch and geez Nash-Tide why don't we all start acting sensitive, of course nobody hates you because you were born in Tennessee. Simply put there are a lot of Alabama fans who simply put want to spend as little time or money in Tennessee given their involvement in our circumstances, I for one don't really care which bowl we go to, I also am just happy that we are going to a bowl. I would have been thrilled with the Peach Bowl but that is for selfish reasons, because I live in Atlanta and the game is at night so it would not conflict with my work schedule at all and would require no traveling or hotel money. I had thought I would be going to the Music City Bowl no matter what up until about a week ago, I would have to travel to the game, stay in a hotel two nights instead of just one since kick-off is so early, I'd need to arrive on Thursday, and yes I like to drink a little befoer games so it would be an early start on the booze, and since I went to the game last time we played up there and it was so cold and raining, I have changed my mind and don't think I'm going if its there. Then there is Shreveport and while my dad and several of my friends went 3 years ago and had a great time, its simply too far away, so i won't be able to make it, that said however where ever we go is fine with me.

.. Truthfully I will not be going to the game if its in Shreveport and am considering changing my mind about going if its Nashville. The Music City Bowl is an 11:00 a.m. kickoff which means you have to get drunk at 6:00 in the morning it would also mean staying over an extra night on Thursday since kick-off is so early.

Just sleep later and sneak some liquor into the game. :rolleye2:

Nah you've never tailgated with us that would never work, I'd be more inclned to stay up all night drinking and go to bed ater the game then to sleep later. Actually the game is at a pro stadium and beer I'm sure will be sold at the game, but tailgating is a must even if it does mean drinking at 6:00 a.m., and so that actually has little bearing on my going or not. Its more financially motivated, I have 5 birthdays around Christmas time, plus renting a car, staying in a hotel 2 nights, plus paying for the tickets, food, and drinks. Plus I went last time we played in the Music City Bowl and it was cold and miserable, factor in I've traveled close to 50,000 miles the past few years attending football and baseball games so i think its probably okay to miss one crappy bowl game. Don't get me wrong I'll be thrilled with whatever bowl we end up in, I have just rethought actually going to the game.

I lived in Nashville for seven years. I've been to Shreveport once and that was enough, thankyouverymuch! I saw 'Bama get waxed by VT in the inaugural MCB back in '97(and got walking pneumonia from hanging out in the sleet and snow), so some redemption would be great!

The Coliseum is a great place to watch a game - not a bad seat in the house! Which leads me to my most significant preference: I have skybox seats to the MCB if we go. Hence, I strongly vote for Nashville!

Oh, and Tennessee, you can also add Club Platinum and Christie's to Deja Vu. Wow, what a city! :biggrin2:

When I started this thread, I was not promoting one bowl over another or comparing Shreveport to Nashville. Both the IB and MCB are lower-tier bowls and speaking as an older fan the opponent in the game is more important than the nightlife,( this coming from a 50+ year old fan whose nightlife days are past ). Personally I would rather see a UA-Texas A&M game in the IB than a UA-Northwestern game in the MCB. As I said earlier, it should be the players and coaches choice. I'm just glad we're going anywhere.
