Sims - 3,290 total yds, 30 TD's, 7 INT's (3 last week), 63.1 completion %, QBR 87.9 (#2 in the nation)

Winston - 3,325 total yds, 24 TD's, 17 INT's, 65.1 completion %. QBR 73.9 (#18)

Those stats seem to make it clear Blake has been more valuable to his team than Winston has.

How strange the FSU fans don't start calling for Winston to be benched if he has a few off-series of plays, or hits a temporary slump in a tight game. Or maybe they do, and I just don't know about it.

I was puzzled to why Winston was throwing so many Ints this year... and then I read this article: http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/77983/by-the-numbers-winstons-ints
It sounds like maybe he's not good at reading defense as many have said... Almost all of his ints... there was someone open and He didn't throw to them... and yet, folks still say that he's the best player... How can you be the best player and still throw 17 ints? Sims is pretty good than most would think... if he would settle down a little, He could be one of the best QB in the playoff!

If you venture back before AJ and to a large extent GMac, Alabama fans have a long standing history of making the second string quarterback the most popular player on campus. It's just a thing with us, I guess.

And to think about where these two athletes started the season:

Winston was the reigning Heisman Award winner of the defending national champions and a lock to be the FSU starting QB. Sims was competing for his job. Absolutely remarkable.

Blake has the edge in statistics. When it comes to who I would be more proud to call my team's QB, there's absolutely no comparison!

Adding Marcus Mariota into the mix:

Mariota - 3470 yards, 36 TD's, 10 INT's, 66.9 completion %, QBR 92.8

When you adjust for the competition, Blake really measures up to any QB in the country. Oregon SOS is 37; Bama SOS is 4.

Winston also doesn't have the same level of protection from his O-Line as he had last year. I've watched most of FSU's games and he seems to be uncomfortable in the pocket alot more than last year. He gets hit quite a bit, and I think it rattles him some, and let's be honest. I also don't think the guy is going to cure cancer or world hunger, and if you've listened to any of his interviews you know exactly what I mean so him not reading complex defenses well would not be surprising.

He wear contact lenses I believe, but still... I don't know if the defense is complex enough for him to be confused.. There was an article i read this morning that broke down each Ints this year, and it showed that He missed open guys.. and the pocket was giving him times... I don't think It was OL at times... It's just on Winston.... If you know the defense is in Cover 2 and your wr is running shallow route.. your first option is to throw to him, not to the guy who has two defenders on him. that has been the case all year long.
Does he have uncorrected vision? Looks like he squints a lot on the field.

Mariota only has 2 INT's this year, an amazingly low number, but yeah, he still stacks up well considering Sims was almost an afterthought entering the season.

Well he was putting up really big numbers last year.

I don't remember Winston throwing to a lot of open guys in 2013. He was great at getting the ball in tight spaces and completing passes against good coverage. Every game it was jump ball city with Benjamin and O'Leary. He misses Benjamin a lot more than Benjamin misses him...

One has Character! This one is also mature.

The other is a Character! This one lacks maturity.

I think you know which is which.

Proof that competition is a very good thing.

What I see in this is that it would have been more surprising for Coker to beat out Sims for the starting job than it would have been for Coker to beat out Winston.

It amazes me that no one in the media has been talking about Winston's regression. He's completely mediocre now. If he goes to the NFL after this year I honestly think he won't be drafted 'til the 3rd round at minimum and that's being generous.
