Is anyone else concerned about the reputation of our defense?

Our guys are playing hard-nosed, physical football. They are not hitting late or taking cheap shots. In fact, they usually help the other guy up and pat him on the helmet. They are not dirty, and I would say they were if I saw cheap shots and dirty play. Anyway, this is just a very physical defense that literally puts a hurting on people.

Force = Mass X Acceleration and our D is big and fast. Beyond that...when their mass reaches impact velocity they also tend to arrive in a bad mood.

Absolutely not, the guys are playing mean and nasty just the way a defense should play. Iv'e seen nothing (chop blocks, ect. to make me think they're dirty) ;) I think some of the injuries, the ole miss player that fell on his arm specifically, was just rotten luck on their part.

If you go back and check out the plays that these players were injured on, you will see that they were all clean, legitimate hits. The UF QB, Brantley just got his legs under him in an awkward way when Upshaw came down on him. There have been no chop blocks, no cut blocks and no head shots that were meant to purposefully injure a player. We're just bigger, faster and stronger than most of our opposition and those are the "breaks" of the game. Remember the Capitol One Bowl when we knocked pretty much all of Michigan State's QBs. Those were all clean hits and their conditioning is just not up to the level our our players.

Muscle is very heavy and pretty hard. When are players are buying into the S&C program, we get rock hard missiles flying at the opposing players. Good clean hits by the average player at full speed are a lot different than a 260lb linebacker getting a good clean hit at full speed who happens to be all fully developed muscle packed on more muscle.

As long as they are not playing dirty and they are clean tackles...I think it's a great reputation for a defense to have. It makes the other team not want any part of them....LOVE IT!!

For the opponents, it is really a case of double jeapordy. Not only do the have to take a butt whipping in the game, but are sometimes already whipped for the next game or two.

If players on opposing teams aren't in the tip-top physical condition that our guys are required to be in, then they stand a good chance of getting hurt - NOT from dirty hits, but from hard, smash-mouth, physical football. It's not our team's fault if the opposing team can't take that level of physical play. Our guys have come to play. If you're not there to play at that level, you better just stay off the field or prepare for possible injuries. THAT is our reputation, and it's not a bad one to have.

I think the OP is also the person in charge of making all these new NFL pansy hitting rules.

People these days, wow!

In the near future I can see the sport being where there is no contact but we have to verbally defeat each other...ahhhh nevermind that, words hurt too!!!!!!!

The way our Players are coached, conditioned, & our style of play..Are all part of "The Process" to make Bama the "Alpha Male" of college football..And watching our domination so far the season.."The Process" has accomplished that..After suffering through Dubose, fRan, Price, & Shula Era's..I'm enjoying every ball jarring hit Bama unleashes on other teams..

Read about Coach Bryant's teams. They were very physical and fast to the ball. Coach Saban's Alabama teams are very much in that mold. They arrive with a nasty attitude and inflict pain within the confines of the rules. There is nothing to worry about when it comes to the reputation of our defense. The reputation precedes them and it adds a mental edge before the game even starts. Everybody has a play until they get punched in the mouth.

i believe it was the Oct 10, 2011 SI issue wherein the author wrote about how well our defense executes the responsibilities due mainly to the way they are coached. it's been jokingly said that CNS' defense play book is thicker than 2 yellow pages and harder to understand than some NFL playbooks. It's no wonder then that when the players get on the field and put on display what they've learned the opponent is gonna get hurt, even though those 2 injuries,as has been stated, in the Ole Miss game happened while Tide D was on the sidelines.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching our defense play football. They are hands down the most physical defense in the country.

That being said, I can't help but notice how many opposing players leave the game and don't return due to injury. Ol' Miss was the first time an opposing QB made it from beginning to end in a game this season. (Some due to blowouts to preserve their health, but a few due to injury.)

I just read how 2 Ol' Miss defenders are out for the season due to injuries suffered in the BAMA game. (I realize these 2 are defenders but still) I don't know exactly how many opposing players have left the games, but it seems like every game SOMEBODY's season is ended (or substantially shortened) because of an injury they suffered against our defense. I have watched virtually every play this season and I wouldn't call us a "dirty" team (I don't see any Nick Fairley's out there), but I can't help but worry that others around the country won't see it that way.

Again, I am extremely proud of the way our team plays, but is anyone else concerned about our reputation?
What the hell are you talking about? Reputation?? Is this an aub's point of view cause it sure sounds like it. Good grief!
