Whats the reason for the offensive collapse? I believe if we let mark get in his groove and run it as much as last year with trent comin in to relieve him we wouldnt have lost a game but it seems to me that they are trying to force the pass to show off julio and make sure the NFL can see what he can do since mark got his proof last year.

Forcing the ball to Julio? I don't think we get it to him enough.

Do you honestly believe that Coach Saban would lessen his chances of winning a game in order to showcase a player's talents?

I think we need a new offense. I know everyone bad mouths Auburns oc but we need an offense that is more than up the middle. Our offense only looks good when the other team is outmanned.

No passion! We didnt want it as bad as LSU did! What else is it to say?

MHO!!! to many great players on this team, but no leadership!!!!!!

I hope that next year we see the driver and passion back in our guys, we should be hungry next year!

RTR!

I feel like we have a great coaching staff, and sometimes the ball bounces the other way. I know that I could not call it any better. And I am sure that there are less than a handful of people that could do any better than Mcelwain. Just My Opinion.

I dont know if we cant block the defensive schemes or what. If they load up for the run, that leaves the pass open. If you load up the pass then we should be able to run. I mean something must be wrong because the offense had done niether.

Some of McElwain's decisions can certainly be debated, but he's not the reason why the offense has underperformed.

I wish I knew what the answer was, but we just could never really get the running game going like last year.

What many seem to to forget is that last year's O-line wasn't dominant -- it's well-documented how many of Ingram's yards came after contact.

Mark hasn't quite been the same, and it seems like maybe other teams have figured us out a bit.

I would say maybe he will get a head coaching opportunity, I've heard he wants one, but given what this offense has produced with the talent it has, it's not likely.

y'all dont get it.......our O is predicated on dominating the line of scrimmage. its ALWAYS been about establishing the run. always has been, always will be with coach saban. against sc and lsu we were not able to do that. and it does not matter how may star WRs we have, we are not built to air it out......if we are forced to do that we end up losing. it has nothing to do with coach mcelwain.

if you ask me its easy to see we run the ball better then we pass it but they try to pass it way more then they thought about doing it last year so whats the reason? because i cant figure it out

I don't think it's playcalling...it's execution and desire. We aren't pushing ppl off the line, we're not seeing blitzes, and our QB has trouble reading some defenses. I thought our passing game was pretty good today, even though they got depleted in their secondary. GMac just didn't see the blitz a few times; now our running game is something else...we aren't opening any holes. LSU stacked the box in the first half, but didn't really bring 8/9 guys in during the second half; our OL just failed to push ppl off the LOS.

LSU whuped us today.
The O probably looked as good as the D.

A question has been bugging me as to why our QB is being hit so much.
The majority of our O-linemen seem to me to have a Sumo body type, instead of a football body type.
The Sumo body type is somethng the Sumo's train for.
I'm not so sure it is the best body type for a college football O-lineman.

I think this was a team loss.

Defense plays great 90% of the time, and then gives ups a large number of big plays. Our inability to rush the QB without sending a lot of players hurts, as well as our patchwork secondary. I did think our guys got sucked in a bit more than usual, and there were some bad angles.

Special teams gives up fake punt, and a horrible punt. Though overall, we do well in our punt and kickoff coverage, we are not a realistic threat to return anything for a touchdown. I didn't realize, how much I took Javy for granted. :)

Offensively, I don't think our play calling is horrible, but it does seem that we don't play with intensity most of the time. Our last drive showed what we were capable of with intensity. Hey, we might want to think about doing the 2 minute as a change of pace some times.

Greg drives me crazy...he takes sacks at inopportune times, but he is really good for our offense, and when he seems focused, he's really good. He just pulled a JPW tonight with the fumble, but our OL really stunk it up on some of the delayed blitzes.

I'll have to say this is a bummer, as my best friend is a LSU fan, however, at the end of the day, we have ensured that Les Miles will be the coach next year, so in some sense, it's a moral victory for me.

he has it exacctly right. lsu doesnt have exactly what i'd call slouches on that team. And when a team has equal talent and you fail to execute mutiple times on both sides of the ball you are going to lose. plain and simple. total lack of execution is killing us. from horrible angles, missing gaps, missing tackles,, running past defenders, failing to lineup properly on defense, blown coverages.. you do all of that during one game it's going to be hard to win. it's not the coaches or the playcalloing folks.. Coach has been saying it all year and nobody is listening. We need to execute

You ca NOT blame anyone but the players for dropped passes, penalties, etc. I do agree, our offense is STALE! Let me put it another way- a joke.
There where 3-4 plays today that cost us the ball game- PERIOD! IMHO we lose to state and hopefully salvage the season by beating the boogers. We just don't have the EDGE!

True. The OL has has trouble in both run and pass situations this year. However, feel that we should've run the ball a little more since Ingram was averaging about 4 per carry. Its not McElwain's fault. We won a NC with his offense and a better OL last year.

Our situation on the OL will improve. Just as the situation in the secondary will.

he's being hit so much because he takes a little to long to throw. another thing that hurts at the QB position is the lack of awareness of what's going on pre-snap. a couple of those blitzes he had no idea they were coming when all he had to do was take a quick peek at the field pre-snap

agree completely. the O line has nowhere to go but UP. not saying they play poorly all the time but a couple of times this year i gotta say they just got outplayed and outhustled. and against LSU the O line looked really slow on some of the run and pass plays. the defense will for sure improve: with that many new guys in the secondary the D's woes are much more understandable.
