On the Hot Seat now? I don't know about y'all, but losing to State today was inexcusable. Most prognosticators and talking heads that I read and listen to think this team would be the odds on favorite to win the East next season. Any takers?

Yes, this was extremely embarrassing to the Gators.

They got beat by a team that got beat by Maine and hammered by UAB !

Ouch!

I would have thought that Zook would be after the Frat incident alone. But apparently according to the CBS halftime show that is not the case. Who knows nowadays who is on what hot seat or when?

Post Zook firing edit.

I should have trusted my own instincts. I said after the Zook & UF players fight at the Frat house came to the light of day after the LSU loss that Zook's days were numbered.

What was I thinking for even even thinking the CBS halftime show's comments about Zook being safe to remain the head coach at UF were researched and an informed opinion. I would have thought they would have done a little homework prior to airing that info about Zook on Saturday during the halftime show of the Bama/UT game. I really do not like CBS sports at all. I was commenting while watching the game about the poor commentating of College Football recently.

I'm a Gator hater and hope they lose every game, however Zook was and is an idiot, and I'm pretty confident this is probably the last season for him. I would not be surprised if that old familiar guy that use to throw his visor on the sidelines is the Florida coach next year.

If I was a betting man I'd put my money on he's gone. Today's loss was just plain inexcusable. The guy has been there long enough to be beyond performances like that of today. I watched that entire game and I was pulling for Croom and the dawgs the entire way.

It wasn't that MSU has improved that much more than it was that the Gators are inconsistent. They show flashes of greatness then they'll lay an egg for a quarter and a half and let the other team either hang around or get back in the game.

The one thing I can say that MSU did to contribute to the win was they flat out didn't quit and they hustled. The talent gap was obvious but they kept plugging away and good things started to happen.

Good post Bamabuzzard. I haven't checked it out but I bet fireronzook.com has experienced a meltdown today.

Someone around Gainsville keep a sharp lookout. If you see Zook at the mall shopping for luggage you will know something is up. :D

IMO, Spurrier will go and take over for Mack Brown at Texas. I believe Texas is sick and tired of losing to Oklahoma and always losing the big games. a change is coming in Austin

He's gone no doubt, I think the AD almost wants a reason to file those papers he pulled out after the Frat problem, I would place money on it that he signed those firing papers last night!!!! To lose to the team Vandy scored 40+ on is just embarassing!!!!

:biga2:

Just spotted this on another site:

Yesterday Mississippi State picked up their first SEC win under Sylvester Croom when they beat Ron Zook's Florida Gators in Starksville.

The last SEC win for Mississippi State was in 2001 when Jackie Sherrill beat Steve Spurrier's Florida Gators in Starksville.

Deja vu all over again ;)

After the frat incident I felt he was going to be fired. After this loss, however, there is no saving him now. He'd have to win out and beat FSU by 40 to survive.
Jeff Tedford in Florida this time next year.
Also, do not fear about MSU beating bama, this is the kind of team that catches lightning in a bottle once, but not twice. This team is maybe good enough to beat ole miss and finish 3-8.
