Is This A Pivot Point Game For The Season?

Regardless of blocking scheme the biggest problem I see
with the oline is we block too high. It happens on our first step. Look at practice pics and videos we are always helmet to helmet. The top of our helmets need to be lower than their chins so we have the leverage.

Daddy Herbstreit will still have us in his final four, even if we lose on Saturday. If that isn't what Coach calls rat poison, then I don't know what is

First Post! Thanks for having me guys! Been a Bama fan since 1988

The S. Florida game was weird. Still don't understand why they went away from Milroe if they didn't bench him after the 2nd pick in the Texas game. If Milroe plays in the S Florida game I don't think it would have been as close and we would have a better feeling about Ole Miss. I also think there was a general let down for the team after the Texas game.

I expect a more energetic, focused group for Ole Miss. Still not sure if it will be enough. This team has a lot of talent, and a lot of problems.

I do think this is the pivotal moment in this season. A win keeps all our usual goals alive and gives us some positive momentum. The Playoffs start Saturday for Bama!

Every Saturday is going to be pivotal so might as well get use to it. We will need to scrap it out on every play in every series on both sides of the ball. This team has to bring it, be prepared to win ugly or face a loss. We as fans need to break out the tough skins as well because bad press is going to be the norm going forward.

Its the biggest non championship or championship stakes game in the Saban tenure.

Cant say it enough. What has happened behind closed doors and the performance (or lack thereof) last week has all snowballed into this.

the culture, the Alabama brand, the belief-- all that is waivering and hanging in the balance this week. A big win in dominant fashion, puts those demons back in the closet for the time being.

If Kiffin comes in here and destroy's us. I dont see a rebound happening this year and likely the coming years. Even a loss like the texas loss, will be a dagger for us.

We are all in on this one. Players/Coaches-- it really needs to work out for us this saturday. I hope it does.

That's a bit dramatic, but I am having trouble disagreeing.

If we get blown out the wheels may come off cause they are already loose right now.

The boulder is already sliding down the backside of the hill. A win here in Alabama fashion, pushes the boulder back on top of the mountain... gets us over this current lack of effort/QB situation...

A loss.. and the boulder tumbles straight to the ground. The negative momentum from losing, the fans, media, etc.. it'll be too much to stop and push back to the top.

Momentum is very real thing in college football. I think it's less important in the NFL. Those are grown men playing professionally. They handle the swings of the season and within a game better. 18-22 year olds don't. If they lose to Ole Miss I think it gets bad.

I think it would be time to plan for next season and let those who want to "quit" fill up the water bottles or go play video games back at their dorms.

Yes. I think this game shows us the direction of the team for the remainder of the season. Therefore, it is pivotal.

I don't necessarily think we have to win. But we have to come out and play well, not make a bunch of stupid mistakes, and establish some kind of offensive identity.

What will it take for the reset?

I mean, we all agree something has to change based on the events of the last two years and "the way" we've played and the problems we've had last year and the first 3 games this year!

Was it almost getting beat by a terrible USF team?

Will it take getting beat my OM?

Will it take losing several games this year and dipping in the DC and letting the current starters sit the bench?

One thing we know won't work: continued mediocrity.

That's not Bama. That's being 10-2 or 9-3.

I'd almost rather the season totally tank if that's what it takes to hit the reset button if it meant we could start fresh again next year. *

*I hope it doesn't take that!

Lose this game and the season is over after 4 games (no team has ever made the playoff with 2 losses). Bama is different. They play for national championships. This isn't Auburn. If you are out of the national championship hunt after 4 games, the season could go downhill really fast.

Ya know it’s hard to say . I’m still trying to wrap my head around how fast we have gone from the top to the bottom. I remember Jalen Hurts struggling with passing …. Look at him now . Who knows …. Maybe Milroe and the O Line will step up and step out !!! I sure hope so and regardless I will always be a die hard Bama Fan !!!! RTR

This game and season comes down to one thing, time for
the offensive line to man up. We' ll know right away if those
five have the fight in them for us to win. If we're pushing the
LOS forward 3-4 yds and giving Milroe time to throw we"ll be in good shape.

Yes. If we win, then it looks like we are back on track, and we have momentum heading into the heart of the SEC schedule.

If we lose, then I think our only shot at the playoff is to bench Milroe, and go 9-0 with Simpson/Lonergan. Then the storyline becomes "Bama is undefeated since the QB change". Either way, it's a pivot point.
