JaMychal Green & Tony Mitchell the NBA? Team First is Your Ticket (a scouts take)...

1 of my best friends is an NBA scout. This is the message to relay to JaMychal Green & Tony Mitchell. This is his direct quote to me on the phone last night.

"The absence of intangibles such as coachability, character, desire, instincts and above all else leadership is causing GM's to project neither player has an NBA future."

I find this above quote to be very strong and premature. This preseason I projected Alabama as a potential Final 4 candidate with their returning core and incoming Freshman class. If Green and Mitchell lead this team with heart and passion they will prosper in the national spotlight and their projections will rise. Both these players are dependent on the team doing well in order for their individual goals to come to fruition. Both of these players have been given the opportunity by Anthony Grant.

Step up now and take this team to where it belongs. Being underachievers as basketball players is not a lofty designation to be saddled with.

Good luck to Alabama and all their passionate fans who deserve better from these 2 players. More importantly these players owe it to themselves.

This team still has New Orleans potential. Its about time they started playing like it.

I am certainly no scout, but I personally think the NBA ship has sailed without either player.

Like I said earlier. I hope they can speak at least one of these languages. Oh lets see, Spanish, italan, Turkish, or Hebrew.

I'm wondering if it's too late.
By that I mean JG is a senior playing in the final two months of his career at 'Bama.
TM is a junior and before this year, I'd say it was a no-doubter NBA draft pick.
If these guys haven't learned how to be leaders yet, how on earth are they going to just all of the sudden do it?
I wish they would, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

They don't have to be leaders - but at least be good followers

Alabama has 10 league games to go. They should go 8-2. Anything else should be considered an immense failure by the program. I expect this Alabama team to finish league play at least 10-6. That should get them in the tournament with a chance to make a run. Its now or never for this team. Lets see if Green and Mitchell and this team led by Anthony Grant can excel before the season is lost and these moments in time will be lost forever. It needs to start against Arkansas. All three of these personalities need to bring their A game. Time is now of the essence. 4 losses in a row is the threshold for immense change.

I agree with your friend, but I do think TM might get a look by an NBA team. The NBA loves long, athletic swingmen who can play multiple positions.

Honestly, if I was an NBA GM and my job was based on the performance of the roster I put on the floor, I wouldn't even take a second look at either of them.
